Jose Padilla, a U.S. citizen,

has been detained for four years without formal charges, much of it in solitary confinement. He is now a broken human being:

Saying that there was ’sufficient cause” to conduct a competency hearing, the government, in papers filed yesterday, urged the judge to do so.

The government itself cited the affidavit of a psychiatrist for the defense, Dr. Angela Hegarty, who said that Mr. Padilla did not understand the nature and consequences of the proceedings against him and that he suffered “impairment in reasoning” as a result of post-traumatic stress disorder “complicated by the effects of prolonged isolation.”

Mr. Padilla’s lawyers said he opposed this request that his competency be evaluated. Dr. Hegarty, one of two mental health professionals who examined him, said Mr. Padilla was “fearful of being thought of as crazy.” She described him as “hypervigilant,” his eyes darting about, his face twitching into grimaces, his “startle response” on constant high alert.

The original accusations against him — “about the dirty bomb, Al Qaeda connections and supposed plans to set off natural gas explosions in apartment buildings — appear nowhere in the indictment against him.”

Down the memory hole and make up new charges- doesn't matter- the goobers will eat it up. Anything to protect them from the Islamic Hordes coming to kill them in their gutted Walmart/MacDonalds "towns".

Could just as easily have those flesh puppets on "Fox and Friends" do a week's worth of stories about the cookie monster threat and pretty soon Freepers would be writing posts about how the "liberals" want to let the cookie monsters win and Limbaugh listeners in Bumbleweed Red State would be quoted in papers about how it is better to "kill the cookie monsters on Seseme Street than have to fight them here."

The mother fucker is John Doe #2 from the OKC bombing.

The fact that they're all saying he's nuts is a means to discredit him if they let his ass go, and he confesses to being part of the McVey plot. Notice we aint heard shit out of Terry Nichols????

Mr. Padilla is indeed John Doe #2.

This country's priorities are all fucked up.

what is there to fear? Islamic hoardes?

Yes. That is what Americans are asked to fear and what many do. Now- never mind that the US is seperated from the Islamics by a great ocean and 6000 miles. Never mind that even if the Islamic world was united into a giant global strattling Caliphate from Indonesia to Morrocco and they were as wealthy and industrialized as the United States that they still wouldn't be able to invade us . . . a majority of Americans actually fears that a dis-united jumbled collection of states whose only common bond with each other is adherence to the Moslem religion that varies from the nominal to the extreme and whose collective industrial capacity literally doesn't surpass that of Finland represents a real threat to them and "their way of life."

Now- the only proper reaction to the fact that a great number of Americans believe this nonsense and that indeed- a trillion dollar "defense" budget now rests on the back of this bullshit- is frankly- despair. Despair that as a great number of Americans actually believe in this fairy tale and laughable threat that such belief means this country is not capable of or deserving of liberty or self government.

you're right Burkeman1

and just think. if a fellow like you worked for CNN - and had a modest staff - and was able to generate content on tv. and if other fellows like you worked for Fox, MSNBC, etc., and were able to generate content - then there is zero chance that this fairy tale would be sale-able.

that is the way I feel about it. Like confuscious said 'the people are like long tall grass they will bow down for the wind'. the people are always sheep and they are led by their sheep-herders.

and for our own peace of mind we need to get used to it. I talk to people - it doesn't do any good. you have to be in a position of authority like a tv-god before it does any good. the people are incapable of thinking and ruling over their own affairs. the tv-gods will direct them instead.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

Just something to keep the goobers and sheeple busy with, while they rob us of our liberties and transfer everything in the US Treasury to their offshore bank accounts.

The fact of the matter is that is really does come down to the absurdly obvious fact that "Islam" is not a threat to this country in any serious way other than the minor nuisance of terrorism- and that is a direct result of DC imperial meddaling in Islamic countries for the past 50 years and the support of that rump fake state of "Israel."

Now- the fact that legions of eggheads from both sides of the fraud divide that are paraded across our TeeVee screens to "Debate" the level of militerism and empire necessary to "defeat" this phantom "Enemy"- don't mention this painfully obvious truth doesn't make it any less true. What it does reveal it that if you simply fail to even acknowledge basic common sense and simply exclude any mention of the obvious and the frankly - easy answer- then that position becomes a "kook" position- no matter how painfully true or self evident.

If it was in the interests of the DC oligarchy to get people to believe that the Bantu African language group of Sub-Saharan Africa- that literally hasn't managed to so much as design and manufacture a domestic modern fire arm in any Black African controlled country- was a "threat", then we would see, almost overnight, a legion of "experts" warning us about this "threat"- with "liberals" and "Conservatives" assigned their moron rolls as if reading from a script. The "liberals" would be for "fighting" the Bantu Menice with giant aid progroms mixed in with diplomatic efforts and selective use of military force- while the "conservatives" would accuse the "liberals" of not taking the Bantu threat seriously (to which the liberls would then object) and scream for massive military attacks on the demon Bantu "leader" created out of thin air. Within days we would see stories about how some Bantu still practive cannibalism- and cut off breasts of women from other tribes- and all manner of their vile evil and horror stories . . . thus anyone who even questioned US imperial adventures on the Dark continent could simultanesously be called a "bantu extremist sympathizer" or a "Racist" for not wanting to help them build civilized democracy and stop the breast butchers. And the simple plain stated truth that there is no plausible "bantu threat"? That would be called "kookism" and a position that wouldn't even be entertained for one second by one fraud pundit in print or broadcast media.

I suspect that Padilla is badly broken, for real. All that being in violation of every concept and law considered to be sacred to America.

How about in violation of about what? 800 years of western legal jurisprudence and ethics?

The sad part is that the 'coercion' tactics amount to extra-judicial punishment. If that doesn't violate all that is 'American," I don't know what does. All that while being denied legal assistance.

The legal/ethical backbone that is the pillar upon which western civilization and prosperity rests being trashed and jettisoned before a "threat" this absurd isn't violating what America is anymore. That is done. To violate all that is "American"- as that term has come to mean- would be to not be suffciently groveling of the Federal Military, respectful of Leader, and applauding of government violence when used on others. Being an "American" is a tax slave who cheers on his own servitude and revels in his identificatoin with the deeds and actions of the Mega State for he which he hasn't the slightest involvement or input. "Participation" in the great events of the day for most Americans means a bumper sticker on their car and filling out the same standarized tax forms- that is about all that "binds us" as a nation- that and propaganda for rubes.
