Oh, dear - we need to get you ladies up to speed here.

A friend mailed me the link, and I wrote back saying that I hope she nailed - because back when, we actually had to study and know those things in our Texas History classes - who knows what they're teaching the kids today.

Did you get the "18 minutes" that was the Battle of San Jacinto?

Cheers, from the CenTex

Whoa! I'm impressed!

At least I got the grape fruit one, but I didn't get the Battle of San Jacinto one.

I lived in TX off and on more than anywhere else, and took TX history in 7th grade. The battle parts always bored me.

I missed the "state fruit" question.

Even this Hoosier hick knows the answer to that is G. W. Bush. You should be ashamed.

You're supposed to be stupid, son. Don't abuse the privilege.

Yes, "Texas, Our Texas" is so very lame, and several years ago the Ruby Red Grapefruit got lobbied in as our state fruit - don't even ask me how the pecan got to be the tree.

Glad that y'all played along.

FYI - chili is the state food - arguably, imo

More -

Texas State Non-carbonated Drink: Iced Tea

It doesn't matter if it's 30 degrees and snowing, if you order tea it will come with ice in it. If you want hot tea, you better be specific.

I miss boiled peanuts. I never put them in the Dr. Pepper like the l'il kiddies at the local small store did, or had an passion for moon pies, but I like peanuts boiled.

And I blame living in the South on that.
