I am on the Colorado/Wyoming border at a little over 7000 feet. It has been snowing all day with a shreiking wind behind it. I wasn't worried as it didn't look too bad out the front window. Been working all day and haven't gone outside. Took the trash down to the bottom of the drive a minute ago and discovered that the wind has been keeping the pastures (which surround the house) clear. Down near the road where there are trees the snow is well over my knees. This is flat snow and not drifts. It still coming down so hard I can't see 100 yards across the pasture. The truck is buried and getting the car out is hopeless. Looks like I am going to be here for a few days. Anybody else got this sort of thing going on?

We are wishing for some snow for christmas but it is looking doubtful. Been unusally warm here around michigan. Only had one accumulating snow in early november.
This common crowd, is much too loud.

Man o Man - Yessir. (Colorado Springs) Been behind a smow blower for hours this pym doing the widows on the block. It's a fierce storm. I think it's quit snowing now, but more is called for tomorrow. All accounts say it's worse to the north. Be a mess tomorrow for sure. Just checked outside - still comming down, not as hard, but that very nasty wind has pretty much stopped. Nineteen degrees. What town are you close to? Craig, Rifle?

I freaking wish! Winter has skipped us here in North ID for the 2nd year in a row. And I am sick and dang tired of the jackasses who think snow isn't appropriate for winter. Grrr...
There is enough food to last for months. Noticed I was out of coffee last night and stocked up. Last thing I needed. Still coming down. Footprints from a couple of hours ago are now buried. Friends are 1.5 miles away making things for Solstice party tomorrow. Debating whether to walk over. Definitely not going to the office tomorrow. Would be a snap if I had my cross country skis here but they are in storage.

Crap. I knew I couldn't just sit back and enjoy the vacation. I had jewelery made up for some people at the solstice party. I need to pick it up in Boulder tomorrow. No way in hell I can get there. I guess everyone will get a lump of coal instead. I do have lots of that.

The skis would help a lot, too bad you don't have them handy. Bad timing in terms of your party.. I'm curious how much snow you'll end up getting, a couple hours ago I went out to eat with a friend, before I left I looked at a weather map of your area and it looked like it was still coming down. It's snowing here but only lightly. But I know how quickly it can pile up during major snowstorms, especially at higher elevations.
You didn't ask about me, but just so you'll know that last time the in laws were here they thought our pantry held a little less than the local Safeway.
Got that right unless ya got a snow certified chopper. Heard I - 70 is closed. If it isn't, it should be.
Good idea! I have a good bit saved up too, just in case. Is it still snowing there? I used to have some snow shoes, good ones, but when I moved a few years ago they disappeared, wish I still had them, they were good ones.

Yes, but light now. More on the way tomorrow. This city is going to be at a standstill tomorrow, as is Denver, I am sure. The snow is heavy and slick and the ambient temps here have been uncommonly cold for weeks so it is not going away soon. The wicked winds have ceased, they created three feet drifts that my little snow blower could hardly handle. I think I am going to let my employees handle the shop tomorrow - they live very close to the store, so it may be a little vacation for me. Except for the widow and orphan shoveling brigade.
House is right at 6300', store is 5000 or so ( I never measured it.) Hard to say how much has fallen here, as the wind has been vicious, but eight to ten can't be far off the mark.

Unlike you softies in CO, our snow lasts for months, and there's no point in having one's limbs amputated due to frostbite for a couple hundred dollars in profit. We had one good snowfall this year, which quickly dissipated as the first one always does. Now we're brown and drizzly.
The national nightmare has ended... Now begins two years of watching the Congress play "Kick the Gimp".
I just went out to look. It was knee deep when I went out two hours ago. Now all my foot prints are covered and it is waist deep in places. There are waist deep drifts across both ends of our drive. Neighbor has a huge German shepard that would not take a dump because snow was up to his stomach. Guy was shoveling out a bare spot for the dog when I went out. There is about 50 yards of knee deep plus snow along the drive. Don't know what to do about that. Neighbor has an old Willys that is sitting on a bare spot. Will try to start that when it stops snowing and see if I can beat out a path. Horse stalls are getting three feet plus snow on top. The roof is pretty flat. Might have to climb up tonight and push it off. Still coming down so hard you can't face the wind. Power is still on. That is a plus.

Yeh you have us pegged. If it isn't warm and sunny and up to 55 degrees the next day it is the end of the world here. If it's not warmthe next day everyone wants to impeach God. You have us pegged. It can get extreamly cold here, but it just does not last. Usually. You guys ENDURE. Somehow.

Be sure ya got some back up for that operation, if not BE EXTRA CAUTIOUS. Being alone in something like this is a dangerous animal. As you know.
The wind here is still, 225 miles to the east of you. Must mean we have got another blast to contend with?
The wind has quieted, maybe now 15 to 20 MPH, but it is full of wet snow. It is sort of like sleet. Big ice chrystals and wet stuff. There is still enough wind to keep it coming down sideways.

Just looked out my door - Hard to tell if it was snowing or breeze from the accumulation, winds are down to five to ten, stablizing at 102.5 hhg. I don't know what your situation is but my advice is to stay put - sleep on the floor.
A few cardbord boxes folded toghther can make for a surprisingly comfortable bed.
OMG! That is a radical snowstorm! I'd be worried about the flat roofs on the horse stalls, sounds like lots of shoveling will have to be done. I wonder if it will keep up that way all night?? When we get snowstorms here I have to dig paths so my two little dogs can go to the bathroom. We have about a foot of packed snow on the ground right now so it's not too bad, but I have to do a lot of shoveling when it gets bad, especially around the car which is no fun, as I don't have a garage. I have a large front deck and I have to shovel that which is a pain, though my neighbor helps. If it's already that deep and continues into the night...
