We need to execute Saddam immediately as he is not under GOP control and he knows what really happened during the run up to the Iraqi war. How are we supposed to make the rubes in Oklahoma see Bush as a wise and capable leader twenty years from now if some BBC journalist gets the real story out of Saddam and writes a book?

Truth is a dangerous thing and must be kept out of non-GOP hands. If you guys want to know what is going on, watch FOX. Fox will tell you what the GOP wants you to know.

(chuckle.)

They obviously think of lubing up the customer in a part of their physical anatomy under their clothes, not under their hood. Talk about geting owned.

Saddam death sentence may not need OK

BAGHDAD, Iraq - An appeals court order upholding Saddam Hussein's death sentence might not require the Iraqi president's approval, a presidential spokesman said Wednesday. If it does not, the former dictator will have no other legal means of avoiding execution.

Saddam loyalists threatened retaliation if he is put to death.

Violence struck Baghdad again Wednesday, with a car bomb explosion killing eight civilians and wounding 10 near an Iraqi army checkpoint, police said.

Two Latvian soldiers were also killed and three were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded under their Humvee, the Latvian Defense Ministry said. Latvia has about 130 troops serving with a Polish contingent in Diwaniyah, 80 miles south of Baghdad.

In its ruling Tuesday, the appeals court said Saddam must be hanged within 30 days for ordering the killings of scores of Shiite Muslims in the city of Dujail in 1982. An Iraqi tribunal convicted Saddam on Nov. 5 after a nine-month trial.

Iraqi officials had said such a decision must be ratified by President Jalal Talabani and Iraq's two vice presidents. But a presidential spokesman said that was not necessarily the case.

"Some people believe there is no need for his approval," said Hiwa Osman, Talabani's media adviser. "We still have to hear from the court as to how the procedure can be carried out."

Lawyers were debating whether an Iraqi High Tribunal provision mandating the imposition of the death penalty could take precedence over a law in the constitution that requires the president to approve death sentences.

The appeals court also affirmed on Tuesday death sentences for two of Saddam's co-defendants, including his half brother. It ruled that life imprisonment for a third was too lenient and demanded he too be sentenced to death.

Some Iraqis said Saddam should be hanged immediately, but others feared Iraq's bloodletting could escalate if the former dictator is executed at a time when sectarian attacks are already on the rise.

"Executing him now is dangerous. The situation is very bad. Things need to be calmer," said Saadia Mohamed Majed, a 60-year-old Shiite in Baghdad who wants the penalty to be postponed for at least three years. Shiites endured persecution under Saddam and his fellow Sunni Arab leaders, and many are eager to remove a symbol of the old regime. CONTINUED...

They want to hurry up and execute him before the government falls apart, the jail overrun by pissed off insurgents* and the prision guards desert their posts which would create the chance that Saddam may escape.

JiffyLube: Long known to be a con joint. This film doesn't surprise me. Glad I can change my own oil and filter on my truck quite easily.

P.S. Never let them use the bulk oil tank to fill your car either, make them use fresh quart bottles...and watch them the entire time. If they won't let you watch, go elsewhere.

Saddam's demise will be interesting. For the most part, Saddam is long forgotten - however - in a land where martyrs are worshipped, he could still possibly trigger quite a backlash.

I'd hate to take a ten-dollar bet, either way.
