KERRY THORNLEY'S INSIDE STORY

In 1992, Sondra London traveled to New Orleans with Kerry Thornley to produce the exclusive interview that appeared on A Current Affair; then continued to interview him during the final six years before his demise in 1998. The photos of Thornley that appear here were taken by Sondra London either in New Orleans or Atlanta.

The story that appears here was edited by Sondra London with Thornley's authorization, from a manuscript he originally called The Dreadlock Recollections, which he completed in 1989. He lived long enough to see the first eight chapters published under the new title on this domain in 1997.

The entire story was released on January 11, 2000.

I post this free online book in honor of President's Ford's death and his work on the Warren Commission.

Who was Kerry Thornley?

Thornley had served for a short time in the same radar operator unit as Lee Harvey Oswald in the spring of 1959 at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) in Santa Ana, California. Both men had shared a common interest in society, culture, literature and politics, and whenever duty placed them together, had discussed such topics as George Orwell's famous novel 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' and the philosophy of Marxism, particularly Oswald's interest in the latter.

Released from Marine Corps' active duty in September of 1960, Thornley relocated with Greg Hill to New Orleans in early 1961 and began to write about his experiences as a peacetime Marine both stateside and in Asia in a book titled The Idle Warriors, which used Lee Harvey Oswald as the template for its main character. The aspiring novelist viewed Oswald as the metaphorical embodiment of an intelligent peacetime GI: deeply dissatisfied with the monolithic, totalitarian structure of military life which stood in distressingly sharp contrast to the professed American ideals of individual liberty and free enterprise.

Prophetically, in late 1962, Thornley completed 'The Idle Warriors', the only book written about Lee Harvey Oswald before Kennedy's assassination in 1963. Due to the serendipitous nature of Thornley's choice of literary subject matter, he was called to testify before the Warren Commission in Washington DC on May 18, 1964. The Commission subpoenaed a copy of the book and stored it in the National Archives. In 1965, Thornley published another book titled Oswald, generally defending the "Oswald-as-lone-assassin" conclusion of the Warren Commission, which met with dismal sales. In his later years, Thornley became convinced that Oswald had in truth been a CIA asset whose purpose was to ferret out suspected Communist sympathizers serving in the Corps.

In January of 1968, New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison, certain there had been a New Orleans-based conspiracy to assassinate John F. Kennedy, subpoenaed Thornley to appear before a grand jury once again, questioning him about his relationship with Oswald and his knowledge of other figures Garrison believed to be connected to the assassination. Garrison charged Thornley with perjury after Thornley denied that he had been in contact with Oswald in any manner since 1959. The perjury charge was eventually dropped by Garrison's successor Harry Connick, Sr.

Thornley claimed that, during his initial two-year sojourn in New Orleans, he'd had numerous meetings with two mysterious middle-aged men named "Gary Kirstein" and "Slim Brooks". According to his account, they had detailed discussions on numerous subjects ranging from the mundane to the exotic, and bordering sometimes on bizarre. Among these was the subject of How one might assassinate President Kennedy, whose beliefs and policies the aspiring novelist deeply disliked at the time. Later, the former Marine came to believe that "Gary Kirstein" had in reality been senior CIA officer and future Watergate burglar E. Howard Hunt, and "Slim Brooks" to have been Jerry Milton Brooks, a member of the 1960s right-wing activist group, "The Minutemen".

Thornley also claimed that "Kirstein" and "Hunt" had accurately predicted Richard M. Nixon's accession to the presidency six years before it happened, as well as anticipating the rise of the 1960s counterculture and the subsequent emergence of Charles Manson and what became his cult following. This led Thornley to believe that the US government had somehow been involved, directly or indirectly, in creating and/or supporting these events, personages and phenomena (Kerry claims Manson and his cult was an offshoot of 'The Process' Satanic church of the 60s which Kerry ran into in New Orleans paraphrasing his words in the above memoir).

In the wake of this period, Thornley came to believe (among many other things) that he had been a subject of the CIA's notorious LSD-soaked MK-ULTRA mind-control research program. While skeptics may dismiss as flimsy conspiracy theory some of his later notions—such as having been a product of occult-based Nazi Vril selective breeding programs—his claims regarding participation in such highly-classified US government mind-control programs and foreknowledge of the John F. Kennedy assassination are somewhat more plausible, as they are consistent with the time period, his residences, and the nature and locations of his military service.

In my opinion 'Principia Discordia' by Greg Hill (Malaclypse The Younger) and Kerry Thornley (Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst) is the best work that describes how the mind control govt uses information to control the population. The book explained the functionings of the "illuminated mind' psy-op techniques in the form of satire.

See this example of how information and thus thinking can be manipulated:

Funny coincidence - Harry Connick, Jr. whose D.A. father was involved in squashing Garrison's investigations was a guest star on the TV show 'Cheers' that starred Woody Harrelson whose notorious mafia hit man father is considered a suspect by some for being one of the hired guns used to kill JFK - some say he was one of the unidentified hobos. Another coincidence - Harrelson's attorney in 1968 was Percy Foreman, who had been counsel for convicted Martin Luther King assassin James Earl Ray.

And if you look at Charles Harrelson on the right, from one of his arrest mug-shots, you can see that every single feature is consistent with the blond-headed tramp.

I like Alex Jones' passion but that is about all I like about him - I find him in error many a times or not being fully critical -- accepting everything as fact as long as it is contrary to the established views. I don't blame him - this is how he makes a living - so why turn away potential customers.

"Alex Jones... accepting everything as fact as long as it is contrary to the established views."

I'm a long time listener. This is not true.

............

The tyrannical and dictatorial political state is the direct offspring of scientific materialism and philosophic secularism. Secularism frees man from ecclesiastical slavery only to betray him into the tyranny of political and economic slavery.

Materialism denies God, secularism simply ignores him... Recently, secularism has assumed a more militant attitude, assuming to take the place of the religion whose totalitarian bondage it onetime resisted. Twentieth- century secularism tends to affirm that man does not need God. But beware! this godless philosophy of human society will lead only to unrest, animosity, unhappiness, war, and world-wide disaster.

I will give an example - small one but it is indicative - Alex Jones break in at Bohemian Grove - he keeps referring to the sacrifice ritual as related to the worship of the Phoenician god Moloch. Actually, what the Bohemian Grovers are re-creating Celtic ceremonies - including the sacrificial motifs of what they think was Druid practices regarding human sacrifice, etc. (Sacred groves, owl statue, etc.)

So why does Jones call this a Moloch ritual? I really don't know beyond an assumption that the man is from the South/Bible Belt area and pulled out a Biblical reference to describe this because all he knows is that kind of motif? Or maybe his audience are mostly these Bible Belt types and any reference to Celtic sacrifice rituals would go over their heads?

In any case such sloppy analysis by Jones of the pagan ceremony is bothersome.

I know that may not be a big deal with you and others but for someone who studies esoterica like I do it is a big deal.

The owl statue is not Moloch (who in fact is represented as being half man and half bull by the Greeks and may have inspired the Minotaur legend) but probably of the Celtic goddess BLODEUWEDD ("Flower Face"; "White Flower"). Lily maid of Celtic initiation ceremonies. The Maiden form of the Triple Goddess; her symbol was the owl; goddess of the Earth in bloom. Flowers, wisdom, lunar mysteries, initiations. Blodeuwedd was created from the flowers of oak, broom, and meadowsweet, hence the 'Grove'. She can be viewed as a May Queen, bound in sacred marriage to sacrificial king who must eventually be sacrificed to her and through her to his people. You must understand this in the sense that the Bohemian Grove is a Freemasonic organization and that the Freemasonic culture saw an infusion into it of Druidic themed motifs in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The ceremonies are not authentic Druid ceremonies but the attempt of 19th century men to recreate what they thought was Druidic ceremonies. Read: Druidic Myths and Freemasonry A Lecture by Andrew Prescott of the Centre for Research into Freemasonry, University of Sheffield. Again, why do I think Jones uses 'Moloch'? Maybe he is ignorant and that is the only example his limited understanding can bring up? Or he is shaping the ritual's explanation for his audience (I am assuming his major audience are Bible Belt Southern types) which would only know of Moloch because they only know of other gods from Old Testament and would be puzzled and confused by Celtic god references? Also referring to Moloch makes it sound 'Biblically' evil and thus he can link the Bohemian Grove people to the NWO Antichrist which appeals to the conspiracy sensibilities and expectations of his audience?

That is just one example and I am exhausted by explaining it!

PS: My statements about Jones reads more harsh than I meant it to be.

OK, I believe what you say and will begin wondering if Alex is just a little off on his facts and just has too much on his plate at any given time or...

What other explanation do you suggest?

I don't know - there is a side of me that says he exists to discredit those into such things because of his antics seem absurd like demonstrating on a street corner - but that could be his personality - part of the Southern culture he comes from instead of holding signs about the bible he does it regarding the NWO while he yells through a megaphone. I don't know his level of education.

It sounds like I am slamming the guy but I am not.
