This is getting rediculious. Normallly after a blizzard we get some sun to make it all well. Not so this time. All clouds and cold.

The Interstate is all icey except for two four inch ruts where the wheels hit, the rest of the city is an icy glaze.

It's a expedition to get out of our local drive onto the feeder roads, and then it is a adventure to make it to work.

And more snow expected this night and tomorrow.

We went through 120 pounds of "salt" on our parking lot and it's accessible but shutting down at nine tonite, on a Friday.

The midwest folks must be laughing at us.

I must have moved 40 tons of snow the last few days. Thank goodness I bot a snow blower last year. Dosn't work on slush I have learned.

Me too. I have been in Llano west of Austin in August. Nuff said - and the bugs all wanting dinner.

But you don't have to shovel the heat.

You would laff at me if I were here alone. When the family leaves to Louisiana in the winter, I do an experiment to see how little energy I can make this house consume.

The water heater goes to 70, I heat up washing water on the stove, the heater is set at 50 ( It nearly never comes on) and I am dressed like a guy climbing K-2.(Not really)

I have a coleman catalytic heater for space heating that I refill from the 20 # tanks. It is a bit of a game.

As we have a 3000 foot house with one person in it, it makes sense to me, and I like the challenge.

I regularly sleeped on the outside deck untill the incessent noise of the interstate kept me awake or distracted.

I really liked the wakening in the morning of being at the almost shivering body temperture point.

And watching the blue jays 18" from my face eating the seeds we allowed them was amazing.

Went down to Ward today to see my friend. Its a little town at about 8500 feet with really a lot of snow. Snow packed roads flat and smooth like a ski run all the way in.

When I left her and her friend walked me out to the car. Parked far away down by the road. Along the way I noticed that both were wearing flip flops in the snow. Made me think of your comment above. I guess people just get used to the cold after a while.

Coming back was really incredible though. Almost a full moon and the snow covered forest and the peaks were as visible as in daytime. Was bright enough to turn out my lights and drive for a while by moonlight. Rolled the windows down so I could see better. Wished I had a good camera so I could get a shot of that.
