This is getting rediculious. Normallly after a blizzard we get some sun to make it all well. Not so this time. All clouds and cold.

The Interstate is all icey except for two four inch ruts where the wheels hit, the rest of the city is an icy glaze.

It's a expedition to get out of our local drive onto the feeder roads, and then it is a adventure to make it to work.

And more snow expected this night and tomorrow.

We went through 120 pounds of "salt" on our parking lot and it's accessible but shutting down at nine tonite, on a Friday.

The midwest folks must be laughing at us.

I must have moved 40 tons of snow the last few days. Thank goodness I bot a snow blower last year. Dosn't work on slush I have learned.

More to come from what I hear. I used to brag that you could go out in Febuary day in shorts. Maybe not this year.

This is getting tiresome. My good friend from Minot ND says you need a snow blower with ten HP to really handle the weather, he may be right. Springs has been in a drought for six years or so, and has mild winters, so this thing has been slapping all of us.

My family back in northern Minnesota is ticked. Here in the panhandle we have had more snow this year then they have!! We have only had two fair storms, and starting our third now, so far no snow(that is supposed to hit us tonight), just freezing rain. But the interstate has been closed down from Albuquerque to Santa Rosa since last night, and they shut down the stretch from Santa Rosa to Amarillo today.

It is pretty slick here already, I made a quick trip to the grocery store earlier this evening and it was a long, slow trip in four wheel drive. Thankfully it is only a three mile round trip!

It's not bad here. Got about six inches of dry powder. The drive was packed down from the last storm so I was able to just drive the car out at about 4:00 today. Used a dry spot to get going and came down the drive at about 50 mph. Momentum pushed me through the deep parts. Could follow the ruts back afterward. Saved the hours of shoveling we did last time.

I am not sure how much snow they have, but the road is bad enough between there and alb. that they closed the road

What is a killer here is the wind. It can blow 80 mph all day long. Ripped the shingles off one side of the roof last year. When it blows like that you can't keep the house warm and it is hell to go outside - especially if its cold or wet. No wind in this storm, just a nice snow.

Went down to to Boulder on Wednesday and it was beautiful. Longs peak and RMNP were half covered in clouds and and all the fields along the front range were covered with snow. After my meeting I went up to the end of Baseline and took a walk up to the Flat Irons. There is a park there that gives access. Really magical in the snow.

Going up to Centennial and Snowy Range this weekend. Plan to snow shoe around in the high country there. Maybe stay at the Inn in Centenial.

My neighbor and I have a horse shoe drive. One end has a six foot drift blocking it that probably won't melt until spring. The other end, the clearable end, is a very steep uphill climb. Hence the speed build up to slide up the icy ski jump. It's pretty safe though, the ruts guide you and you couldn't turn off the road if you wanted to.

Me too. I have been in Llano west of Austin in August. Nuff said - and the bugs all wanting dinner.

But you don't have to shovel the heat.

You would laff at me if I were here alone. When the family leaves to Louisiana in the winter, I do an experiment to see how little energy I can make this house consume.

The water heater goes to 70, I heat up washing water on the stove, the heater is set at 50 ( It nearly never comes on) and I am dressed like a guy climbing K-2.(Not really)

I have a coleman catalytic heater for space heating that I refill from the 20 # tanks. It is a bit of a game.

As we have a 3000 foot house with one person in it, it makes sense to me, and I like the challenge.

I regularly sleeped on the outside deck untill the incessent noise of the interstate kept me awake or distracted.

I really liked the wakening in the morning of being at the almost shivering body temperture point.

And watching the blue jays 18" from my face eating the seeds we allowed them was amazing.

The tyrannical and dictatorial political state is the direct offspring of scientific materialism and philosophic secularism. Secularism frees man from ecclesiastical slavery only to betray him into the tyranny of political and economic slavery.

Materialism denies God, secularism simply ignores him... Recently, secularism has assumed a more militant attitude, assuming to take the place of the religion whose totalitarian bondage it onetime resisted. Twentieth- century secularism tends to affirm that man does not need God. But beware! this godless philosophy of human society will lead only to unrest, animosity, unhappiness, war, and world-wide disaster.

eeeeeeeeeee...

That is the worst.

We had a very strong blizzard with white-out conditions the other day, but that was after a couple weeks of very high pressure with clear skies, no humidity and below zero temperatures. By the time it got to minus 20 a few clouds started to appear, and then we got hit by a blizzard. It does interesting things to the road when you are driving in it, and it's not a good time for people to tail-gate.

We ended up with about 6 inches of snow but it's getting colder again. At least during the blizzard it got up to 25.

LOL, God blessed texas! and I sure don't miss Minnesota winters!

When we get snow here in the panhandle, it is completely gone withing two weeks.

The day before this storm hit it was nearly 70.

That is really bad if they did that. I've been across there lots of times when it was bad but the road was never closed.

Once I was coming east up there between Albuquerque and Clines Corners. I was moving maybe 25 or 30 mph since the road was icy and slick. Another truck went past me doing at least 50 and the driver made a wisecrack on the radio about me being a pussy. Funny thing, I got 10 or 12 miles down the road and there he was jack-knifed in the middle and standing outside with a stupid look on his face. Like one old boy said, just because you got a triple digit truck don't mean you let your asshole run your brain. LOL

Went down to Ward today to see my friend. Its a little town at about 8500 feet with really a lot of snow. Snow packed roads flat and smooth like a ski run all the way in.

When I left her and her friend walked me out to the car. Parked far away down by the road. Along the way I noticed that both were wearing flip flops in the snow. Made me think of your comment above. I guess people just get used to the cold after a while.

Coming back was really incredible though. Almost a full moon and the snow covered forest and the peaks were as visible as in daytime. Was bright enough to turn out my lights and drive for a while by moonlight. Rolled the windows down so I could see better. Wished I had a good camera so I could get a shot of that.
