Why would Anna do this to herself? She had a perfect body. I read that the muscle-toned normally 123 lb tennis player is now down to a skeletal 110 lb. (2 images)

Tennis star Anna Kournikova has defended her dramatic weight loss, insisting she isn't suffering from an eating disorder.

Since leaving the Women's Tennis Association circuit because of a back injury, the Russian pin-up has lost the voluptuous figure which once graced magazine covers worldwide.

The 25-year-old beauty says her loss of bulk is down to her lack of tennis and says she is not starving herself.

She says, "I'm naturally long, lean, and lanky. When I was playing tennis on the professional circuit, my body completely changed.

"For nearly 15 years, I spent six hours a day on the court.

"Now, almost three years have passed, and my body has changed again."

I eat them with lots and lots of white sugar and pasteurized, homogenized milk. Usually I add a banana for nutrition.

a skeletal 110 lb.

She looks like a sickly little boy.

Not married to a Republican by chance, is she?

Maybe she's on meds for chronic back pain and they're killing her appetite?

I know someone who has that problem.

I understand that it's nearly impossible to maintain a healthy weight when food tastes like sand and it's difficult to wet a stick of gum by chewing, never mind a full meal of solid food.

I have that one. I always liked the "Moe the Bully" ones, too.

News flash, when you stop working out for 6 hours a day, you gain weight, or at best, lose tone, but you don't lose weight unless you stop eating.

So a measly 13 pounds turned her from a voluptuous woman to a skeleton girl?

That has always been my A+ #1 favorite strip. I was seriously bummed to see them go sledding off into the sunset. Watterson was very defensive about the strips concepts and refused to ever license them for commercial exploitation. Nearly every single merchandising item you can find of the strips characters is an illegal bootleg. Watterson stuck to his guns on not cheapening them via mass marketing and it's pretty much agreed that he gave up at least two hundred million dollars by doing that and that was up till around 97 or 98...

AFAIC, Bill Watterson is "The Man". He gifted us with a uniquely perspectived picture of innocence and humor and in the age of the mighty $, never sold it out.

"My strip is about private realities, the magic of imagination, and the specialness of certain friendships. Who would believe in the innocence of a little kid and his tiger if they cashed in on their popularity to sell overpriced knickknacks that nobody needs? Who would trust the honesty of the strip's observations when the characters are hired out as advertising hucksters?

If I were to undermine my own characters like this, I would have taken the rare privilege of being paid to express my own ideas and given it up to be an ordinary salesman and a hired illustrator. I would have sold out my own creation. I have no use for that kind of cartooning..."

Yup. People with eating disorders usually do lie about it.
