So I'm flipping through the channels when I happen upon TPT2, which is our local public television station and of course, Mister Rogers Neighborhood is on.

I SHIT YOU NOT, Handyman was telling the little cat puppet about TAXATION. He hands him a picture book about how the taxes that are collected go to take care of things in the land of Make-Believe.

I ABOUT SHIT A GODDAMNED BRICK. Fred Rogers was a fucking traitor, as he was all about brainwashing children if he did a show dedicated to TAXATION.

What the sonofabitch should have done was a show about TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. THEN I wouldn't have such a fucking sour memory of him. I recommend everyone look for this episode on Youtube, or something and post it. Watch the thing, The part that I caught was flagrant brainwashing to get your little proletariat members to go with the program.

I realize that some taxes are good, and necessary in order to take care of the local stuff, but Fred never covered largesse, theft, graft and corruption as that would have been at least intellectually honest.

This is the last betrayal I am going to tolerate. The Cable Box is going back today. There isn't a chance in hell that I'm going to welcome the public tv programming into my house. Subscribe to *You Gotta Be Shitting Me*

The International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., has a mini-theatre where old propaganda films are played. One of them, a Disney cartoon production, repeats the mantra, "Taxes to beat the Axis," while tanks and war-planes cross the screen, highlighted against blackened skies, and taxpayers are urged to file their returns early! The film obviously pre-dated withholding. You might have heard of withholding. It was a temporary measure enacted during WWII.

Tell us, therefore, What do you think? Is it lawful to pay head tax to Caesar or not?" But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said: "Why do YOU put me to the test, hypocrites? Show me the head tax coin." They brought him a denarius. And he said to them: "Whose image and inscription is this?" They said: "Caesar's." Then he said to them: "Pay back, therefore, Caesar's things to Caesar, but God's things to God." Well, when they heard [that], they marveled, and leaving him they went off.

More proof that the bible is a tool to keep the masses paying tithe and tribute.

Every bible should be burned. Along with every other religious text that zealots and wackos follow.

If your religion comes from a book, then it sure as hell isn't from God.

This country's priorities are all fucked up.

I have to agree that the Bible has been used as a tool against the masses. But tithing is to help the people that need it, taxes are not necessarily condoned nor demanded in the Bible.

As you can see, it says "PAY BACK", hence if you receive nothing from Caesar, you do not owe Caesar. This is the same as Social Security, you can opt out of the system, but if you do, you will not be able to receive benefits. If you expect to receive from the government, you do owe the Government.

It is God who gave us the land and the animals, hence he does have right to ask that we tithe and help those less fortunate.

The Bible is a law book. If we were to live by the laws therein, we would have no need for government, greatly reduce the problems of poverty and health problems.

Sadly yes, that is the general opinion.

If you mention just the food laws from Leviticus to your average Christian, you will get two responses. One is that those laws were abolished when Jesus came, and the other is that no one can follow all of those laws.

Jesus himself said - Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The only law at the time was the Old Testament, as the New had not yet been written.

Also, one can follow the food laws, just as one can quit smoking. You only need the desire.

I am unable to quit smoking because I like to smoke therefore I do not have the true desire to quit. Your average Christian will not give up pork, lobster, catfish and so on because they like it, and they do not truly fear God, or they would know that the laws that he laid down our enforceable and are still law today.

But tithing is to help the people that need it,

That's the way it's supposed to be and at one time was.

Now all i see most is the local churches shaking down the parishioners and using the money for ice cream socials and big church dinners. Then, when they get a few bucks they shake down the parishioners again to build a new church they don't need.

It's pathetic...they're turned into nothing more than corporate black holes for money.

Unless you are Sola Scriptura Protestant the Christian religion does not come from any book. The Christian church predates the New Testament and in fact only collected the New Testament from letters written by the founders after the fact.

I have never seen a one so able to take things out of context as you.

This has nothing to do with slavery, if you read on you will see that the "sell" referred to is in reference to the bride price. It also outlines the treatment that this woman shall receive.

Now I am sure you are going to come back with something out of the scarecrow bible that is totally mistranslated, But even if this passage did refer to slavery, it says IF A MAN SELL HIS DAUGHTER it in no way implies that you must sell your daughter.

This passage does contain laws, but "thou shall sell they daughter" is not one of them.

My grandfather, a very religious man, got thrown out of more churchs that way.

The Preacher didn't like it when he asked to the see the records of how the church was spending the donations. Funny thing, the Preacher's wife was the one who did the books.

When he tried to lay a guilt trip about how God's needs to come first my grandfather replied that God says his family comes first.

I am not here to judge, nor would I ever tell someone how they shall die or what their punishment shall be for anything. I leave judgement to God.

I was simply pointing out that protestants do not believe in the Sola Scriptura Theory. In order for one to believe that the Bible is the only truth, they must live by the Bible.

But of course you have to twist that so far out of context that I am amazed that you make sense to yourself.

Rape and Theft are both crimes, are not the transgressors of both laws criminals.

I do not tell others how to leave nor what their doom shall be. I only live the best way that I know how. I do make comments as to what the law dictates, but I will never tell anyone what they should and should not eat.

The laws concerning clean and unclean foods are health laws. If you violate these laws you will not lead as healthy of a life as you would otherwise. If someone chooses not to follow these laws, it is beyond me to judge.

I have not always followed these laws, and I suffer from Multiple Sclerosis. But it is definitely true that since I have chosen to follow these laws, my symptoms are far fewer, and most of the time non-existant. Maybe it is all in my head, but I feel that following these laws have made me a healthier person, but maybe it is like the placebo thing where someone thinks that what they are doing is helping so it helps. This does not matter to me. What I am doing works, and I will continue doing it.

On the other hand my grandfather ate a half a pound of bacon every day of his life and lived into his 80's, and was very healthy till the last couple of years. Therefore there are apparently some people out there that can live a healthy life without following the health laws in the Bible.

This is why I will not preach and tell others what they should and should not eat. I will tell them what I do and why I do it and allow others to make up their minds what is best for them.

The law from the Old Testament is still the law.

Among commonly cited verses claiming that the food laws from the Old Testament were abolished is Acts 10 14-15, but if you read further, you will see that Peters dream has nothing to do with the food laws, but refers to racism.

More common verses used in this defense of unclean meat:

These verses are often misunderstood to mean that if you pray over a meal that it is automatically good to eat.

The word thanksgiving does not imply prayer, it comes from the root word "eucharistos" which has three meanings:1) mindful of favours, grateful, thankful: 2) pleasing, agreeable: 3) acceptable to others, winning, liberal, beneficent. This root word alone could still be considered vague, but if you read onto verse 5 it says "for it is sanctified..." God tells us the only meats that he sanctified in Leviticus and Deuteronomy.

Also, Jesus himself said;

Remember, at the time that Jesus was saying these things, the new testament had not yet been written. The only law and recorded word of God was the Old Testament.

Live as you wish, it is no skin off my back. These laws were given to us not for the sake of making our life more difficult, but to give us guidelines for us to live healthier lives. I despise doctors, every time I go to the doctor I end up with more problems than went in for the doc to treat. I have not been to the doctor in over a year and a half, and have been getting steadily healthier.

As I said in a previous post, I do not know if practicing these health laws is the only reason for my health improvement, but I do contribute a lot of my better health to it.

I have been a sickly sort most of my life. I have had three bouts with cancer, until the last two years I suffered from pneumonia every winter, sometimes more than once (I did not get pneumonia last winter, and not yet this winter either)I have fought eczema (which hardly flares up any more) and multiple sclerosis.

The only problem that I am still dealing with is my MS, but I have only fallen once in the last 6 months (I used to land on my ass at least 3 times a week) and deal with very little pain any more.

My health is a very important issue to me. I will do anything that I can do to improve it. Finally, after a lifetime of major illness, I decided to try practicing the health laws to see if maybe the creator knew what he was talking about, and my health has been steadily improving ever since. IMHO the guy who created us knew a thing or two about our bodies and what was healthy for us to consume, so I shall continue to follows his laws.

I never tell anyone what they should and should not eat, but I do share my story hoping that others may want to see if God knew what he was talking about.

As I said in an earlier post, I compare this to smoking, if a person likes what they are doing and does not want to stop, they won't. They will come up with any and every excuse they can. That is why I don't tell people what is right for them, only what I do, why I do it and how it has helped me.
