-- Mamas And The Papas - My Heart Stood Still It was a great era. I miss it, and I dearly loved this group back then, and still do. They would have trouble making it in today's music world. Many today for example couldn't get past Cass's weight to enjoy her majestic and beautiful voice. Often when I look back and see the excitement and energy the world of art including music enjoyed back then and then look at the boring, canned and bribe to play world we now live in and inwardly weep.

It's funny you chose P,P&M. My sister had one of their 1st albums and i listened to it over and over. It was my introduction to folk, a music form I still love today. I had a huge crush on Mary way back when :)
it was a good era for music Ferrett Mike. and I attribute much of the very negative trends you noted to the stupid corporate executives who have a strangle-hold over the industry. and the stupid consumers who let themselves be programmed by the corporate culture as well. Today it would be the corporate managers who would never allow someone with a weight problem like mama cass succeed.

Which is why when I think of how I can't recall a single aspect of a single song by Britney Spears I feel relieved, and blessed. (Just one example of many "artists" I cannot stand and do not know.)
