Did you notice ALL the 'experts' at ESPN picked the Saints? They let their 'politically-correct' sympathy for the Katrina 'voctims' color their bias for the Saints. Soldier Field? Cold and snow? No dome? Only an *ss would go against the Bears. I don't give a rat's backside about sports, but I told my wife the Bears were going to kick the Saints' butt before the game even started. Hey, ESPN...can I have one of those six-figure jobs picking sporting events?

Yay, now we can look forward to two weeks straight of 24/7 human interest stories on WGN talking about how couples from Schaumburg are naming their kids "Lovie" and interviews with players' college roommates.

Then ad nauseum comparisons trying to decide whether the current team more closely resembles the '63 Bears or the '85 Bears - that is until the Colts whip 'em good.

The Bears whupped the Saints? What was the score?

It was reported that the Saints didn't practice outdoors all week. Real bright coaching move there.

39-14

Total domination. Bears beat the snot out of them on the line. Saints had 4 turnovers.

Good, old-fashioned 39-14 *ss-kicking...at least we don't have to listen to them whine about Katrina for the next two weeks. Enough.

Game 2 is next.

I'm from New England, but I'm not really a Patriots fan. However, seeing Manning get his helmet handed to him would devestate my neighbors here in east Tennessee; so I have to say "Go, Patriots". I'm not very nice. :-) (By the way...remember what happened when the Bears played the Patriots in '86? Ouch.)

It sounds like it. How many of the turnovers lead to a score? That was the key right there.

A couple turnovers lead to field goals. Bears scored a safety on the Saints. They also rushed the ball for almost 200 yards.

Lovie Smith is from Big Sandy, Texas. I saw him play high school football there. They won the state title in their classification three times while he was a player.

One of his teammates was the late David Overstreet, who went on to play for OU and the Miami Dolphins before dying in a car wreck at age 25.

Lucky? Bears beat the Saints easily. Pats??? I think you had better get a new team because they got stomped by Indy. Nobody wanted to see the Pats, everyone is sick of them. With that said, the AFC run is over, the Bears should beat Indy.

That's no lie!!!

It was a little amazing that Indy finally overcame the pats at crunch time... But Manning finally made a real showing!!!

Agreed, defense wins championships. Given the offenses presented in SB LIX, you have to think it's possible the Bears will have a tough time scoring... AND Indy already overcame a tough D against the Ravens... Cold won't be a factor like it would be with Indy being a "dome team". Could be interesting!

a. Bears beat the Saints easily because of Bears' defense and because of Saints' bad luck - turnovers. Grossman stinks - I can't stand his cocky smirk- and the the victory over the Saints which I think had the better overall team was due to the Bears' defense causing and capitalizing on the Saints' errors.

b. Pats got beaten up badly by the Chargers. Also the whole team was suffering from the flu. The defense got tired in the second half. Pats will be back as contenders next year.

c. I wanted the Pats to win - Brady is so classy and such a leader. I never get tired of watching the Pats play. Manning has so prostituted himself for ad money. And he's not much of a team leader - he blames other players for errors never himself but he takes all the credit for victory, good plays.

d. All the same I'm not unhappy that the Colts won ( unlike the way I felt about the Saints-Bears game)- the Colts played very well especially coming back 18 points in the second half and they deserved to win. They looked like champions.

e. I'm cheering for the Colts at the Super Bowl game. Colts 21, Bears 10.

...Grossman stinks..

This was Rex's first full season and the Bears are going to the Super Bowl. Grossman has played a total of 26 games. He is their future QB. I like Indy and Peyton but the stats point to the Bears in a razor close game.

Thats alot of excuses for the Pats losing. They should have stuck to the running game after they got into the lead. Instead they got into a shoot out with Indy and lost.

The Saints didn't have bad luck. The Bears beat the snot out of them and took the ball from them. When N.O. abandoned the running game, it was over.
