Once I complimented Byeltsin on his grasshopper style, and he quite cogently responded by pointing with pride at another of his posts, which he claimed was his best. The elevator does go to the top floor, but it may be a split-level.

I have a BA in psychology (yeah, I know, woo-hoo), and byeltsin seems like a textbook schizophrenic to me, at least if his posting is representative of his though process.

I always thought his posts were a fine example of "word salad".

Those targetted to pay for their horrible treatment of someone doing a suicide opus run never get a hair out of place, and usually find great amusement and satisfaction at the resulting carnage.

his posts were a fine example of "word salad".

Most do, but every once in a while he throws in a complete sentence. Of course, medication can account for such anomalies, but I prefer to think that he has consciously chosen this method of expression. Sometimes he even seems to make sense, as when the associated words bear some analogy to one another.

His posts are generally collections of nouns. Yet in Latin, and in ancient Greek, one could throw two nouns together and the linking verb was understood.

Our basic grammatical structure, of subject, verb, and object, seems to be a reasonable facsimile of the way the world works. Conditional sentences seem to mirror the cause and effect relationships that we have been taught govern the world. However, other ways of thinking may exist and may be valid.

In the Origin of Consciousness and the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind, the author argued that the words spoken by the gods in the Iliad were vestiges of communications from the right hemisphere of the brain to the left, dating from a time when the hemispheres operated more independently. The distinctions between right and left hemisphere functioning unearthed by Sperry's split-brain research comes to mind.

Perhaps Byeltsin is a graduate of one of those speed-reading courses. Perhaps in the year 2207, everyone on Freedom4um will express himself or herself in his way.

That reminds me, lodwick once tried to rid a forum of byeltsin (renamed vladimirp or vputin as I recall). He offered $$, although my memory is imperfect about it.

He was on to something, just what it was I don't know. I see now that current anthro studies are gloming a little bit on his ideas.

I have no idea if it is germane but Dolphins (and maybe all cretacens) have a bifircuated brain, and in the case of dolphins, they never sleep, but one half of the bifurcated brain "sleeps" in quiet times, then the other half does.

Elephants have a markedly tri-furcated brain (my origanial word) but it really is a brain frissered into three equal parts. Quite distinct from humans.
