1/24/07 See News 10NBC Report By Jennifer Johnson Many churches have coffee hour, but have you ever heard of Porn and Pancakes at church? That event will happen next month at a church in Wayne County and the advertisements are already up. There is a billboard on Route 104 that says people are talking about porn and pancakes. It's an event that will be held at Living Word Assembly of God Church in the town of Ontario, next month. The discussion is being advertised as an honest discussion about pornography. “It's everybody's dirty little secret in America and it needs to be addressed. It needs to be spoken about openly so people can get healed,” said parishioner Paul Forget. Church member Paul Forget has been to another Porn and Pancakes event in Michigan. It features triple-x church, a group of youth ministers who travel the country talking about porn and the porn industry. “They showed men the inside of the porn industry and they had a former porn producer who came out of the industry who shared with guys what it's like inside the industry and how he actually recruited girls from things like http://Myspace.com,” explained Forget. Porn they say can and has ruined lives. So they want to educate people struggling with porn addictions or the casual observer. They hope families will take part. “If we can have parents educating themselves about the industry then they can feel comfortable going home and saying this is what's happening. How do we do this as a family to unite ourselves and remove the chances of it affecting our family too,” said Mike Becher. The approach, Pastor Becher, of the Living Word Assembly of God Church, says is non-condemning. “As a general church body we don't try to hide behind topics, we try to open them up and say let's discuss them and let's talk about them,” said Pastor Becher. Other parishes seem to agree with that concept. Pastor Becher said churches from Syracuse, Buffalo and here in Rochester have asked about being a part of Porn and Pancakes. This post proves the power of suggestion and/or my dirty mind. When I first looked at the billboard, the image I saw was of a woman bent over exposing her bare buttocks when in reality it is a couple of pancakes. I guess this means I'm going to hell.

Porn's been around for forever and will be around forever, and it's "damaging" effects are vastly overrated. Last girlfriend I had wanted to watch some "adult movies" at the hotel we were staying at. Next thing I know, I fall asleep in the middle of it.
