Poster Comment: For those of you not familiar with R. Crumb, he was the creator of the "Keep on Truckin'" man, the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers for Playboy, and Fritz the Cat. While I think he's exaggerating here, he's also illustrating Ezra Pound's comment that the artist is "the antenna of the race." Crumb, of course, now lives in France. For those who have not seen it, "Crumb," the movie about his life -- and his family, is a must-see. He certainly has nailed the perversion that Christianity has turned into, hasn't he?

Correct. Specifically, the Freak Brothers comics were created by Gilbert Shelton and Dave Sheridan. Dave Sheridan fell ill in 1981 and died in 1982. Paul Mavrides had teamed up with Gilbert Shelton and Dave Sheridan, and carried in on Dave Sheridan's absence. Gilbert Shelton was also notable for being one of a handful of underground comic artists to do an album cover for a major rock group, in his case "Shakedown Street" for the Grateful Dead. Yes, I have one or two underground comics in my library *cough* - *looks down at toes*...
