Dear Editor: Christ said, Blessed are the peacemakers." So, how did Christians turn into Christian-Zionists (evangelicals), elect Bush, and fund the bombing of Iraqi and Palestinian children? And how can they claim to be pro-life?" I guess the tourists dont go into refugee camps where Palestinians are starving. They dont visit the Baptist Church in Gaza where American and Arab Christians worship together (and pray the American-made missiles dont hit them).
Where does the Bible say we should support the state" of Israel? When God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3, there WAS no state of Israel. Israel, the grandson of Abraham, hadnt yet been born.
Helping the Zionist movement along was Cyrus Scofield, an opportunistic criminal-turned-preacher. According to Joseph Canfield, author of The Incredible Scofield," Scofield tore out the pages of a King James Bible, pasted them onto a yellow notepad, and doodled on the yellow paper for years. In 1908, the Oxford Press (reportedly close to Lord Rothschild) published his notes. Hence, the Scofield Reference Bible, relied upon by the seminaries of America. References to the Jews and the state of Israel were in these footnotes.
Somebody knew there was to be a state of Israel and had plans for occupying Palestine before the 1948 Balfour Declaration. In 1967, when Scofield was dead, footnotes were added to declare that anti-Semitism" by nations would bring judgment upon those nations. The stage was set.
Christians should follow Christ, not do the bidding of AIPAC [American Israel Public Affairs Committee].
