INVASION USA Government admits lying about jailed border agents Inspector confronted on Capitol Hill, says promised 'proof' does not exist

Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas A Department of Homeland Security official admitted today the agency misled Congress when it contended it possessed investigative reports proving Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean confessed guilt and declared they "wanted to shoot some Mexicans" prior to the incident that led to their imprisonment.

The admission came during the testimony of DHS Inspector General Richard L. Skinner before the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, according to Michael Green, press secretary for Rep. John Culberson, R-Texas.

Culberson was questioning Skinner about a meeting DHS officials had Sept. 26 with him and three other Republican congressman from Texas, Reps. Ted Poe, Michael McCaul and Kenny Marchant.

(Story continues below)

WND previously reported that at that meeting the DHS Inspector General's office asserted it had documentary evidence Ramos and Compean:

confessed to knowingly shooting at an unarmed suspect;

stated during the interrogation they did not believe the suspect was a threat to them at the time of the shooting;

stated that day they "wanted to shoot a Mexican";

were belligerent to investigators;

destroyed evidence and lied to investigators. Under questioning by Culberson, Skinner admitted DHS did not in fact have investigative reports to back up the claims: "The person who told you that misinformed you," Skinner reportedly replied.

This prompted a startled and angry response from the congressman.

"You lied to me and you lied to all of us," Culberson charged. "Your office tried to paint a picture of Ramos and Compean as dirty cops, and now you come before this committee and tell us you never had the information to back up those claims."

Ramos and Compean began prison sentences last month after their actions in the shooting of a drug smuggler who was granted immunity to testify against them.

Responding to Skinner's testimony yesterday, Poe said it "explains why DHS has been stonewalling Congress."

"DHS didn't turn over the reports to us to back up their September 26 accusations for one simple reason – the reports never existed," the Texas congressman said.

"Why did it take DHS four months to admit their error?" he asked. "I wonder how much more has DHS told the public and Congress about Ramos and Compean that simply isn't true?"

Poe said he's determined to get to the bottom of DHS's claim.

"I expect this new revelation will lead to a lot more questions before we're done," he said.

Andy Ramirez, who has been involved with the case as chairman of Friends of the Border Patrol, told WND the DHS's actions "represent obstruction of justice, and they should be held in contempt of Congress, and, if possible, prosecuted to the full extent of the law."

"This admission today is yet more proof of how they are willing to distort the facts, as I have charged all along, in order to ensure a conviction," he said.

This whole squalid mess has stunk from the beginning, and the more we learn the more it stinks.

Lou Dobbs said an investigation is warranted. That so far all indications point to interference at a high level of the Justice Dept.

Maybe the severe beating of one wasn't quite enough.

This whole case is a travesty. I hope it ends well for the innocent.

The whores in D.C. are being bitch slapped by the Mexican Drug Lords who have been taking lessons from AIPAC and the ADL. I mean, why not. These scum have been bribing the D.C. ho's as much as the Jew lobbies do.

“The First Highest Masonic Council was, as we have already said, formed on 31st May 1801 in Charleston, 33 degrees northern latitude, under the chairmanship of the Jew Isaac Long, who was made inspector general by the Jew Moses Cohen, and who had received his degree from Hyes, from Franken, and the Jew Morin.”

They're federal convicts, and state governors have no jurisdiction.

It sounds more and more like these agents were careless in the handling and follow up of a shooting incident and BushCo decided to sacrifice them to earn brownie points with the Mexican/immigrant "community". (Had the agents left the cartridge casings in place and called out a shooting investigation team the incident would have been ruled "within policy" and there'd be no jail time for them-but, like so many other border skirmishes that go unreported the BP supervisor decided that "no autopsy no foul, pick up the empties and blow it off" and now these guys are paying the way Lt William Calley was singled out to suffer for acting on what was likely unofficial US rural pacification policy in free fire zones in Vietnam.)

Is there any doubt that Bush is sweating bullets? If the DEMS sweep the '08 elections too then that will be his legacy-He'll be the GOP equivalent of Jimmy Carter, the ineffectual peacenik liberal who the entire nation regurgitated as Ronald Reagan was elevated to the high office of political saint-a long legged daddy who wasn't afraid to kick sum ass....

I have no doubt that BushCo would sacrifice anyone to cloud the truth and have some plausible deniability, and everything they do now is with that goal in mind. Every baby they kissed, every Medicare perk they allowed, everything they did and do is for the express purpose of delaying the inevitable death of the GOP.

If this means pretending to care about the treatment of our little brown hermanos y hermanas then Bush and Rove will step forward with clinched fists and play their parts well. And, we can't shame the bastards so even if caught in the act they'll stay the course. After all, it's not like some good, solid, white, Texas-Republican campaign contributors are rotting in jail.

some (in)justice system we've got here.

That's the problem - we DON'T have a justice (or to a lesser degree an injustice) system.

We have an ADVERSARIAL system. Our courts are adversary courts. Ramos and Compean came up against a BIG adversary!

Congressman Rohrabacher's comments about impeaching Bush over this case has inspired an "OFFICIAL George Bush Impeachment Thread" at LP. Regardless of your opinion of LP; you have to love it. The illegal war should have been the reason, but I'm not picky.
