A magic trick. Both the leads going to the candles are out of the pic and are the connected source of the power supply. Distract the viewer with the candles, magnets and screws, and the trick is played. These tricks rely on your assumptions. If I really could do such a thing I would be SO SURE to have the power leads in the pix so there would be no ?? as to tampering. Perfect video trick, tho.

It's called a thermocouple. Heat two dissimilar metals (like iron in the nails and copper in the wires) and a current is induced. Most gas funaces have one that keeps the pilot light going. A fancy version of that is used in space probes, with the heat coming from low grade nuclear fission. It's a horribly inefficient means of producing electricity.

But the heat from the flame can't possibly have travelled down an insulator like "wick" that quickly--the bulb turns on instantaneously. Ditto when the flame is burned out--if the wick was heated up, it would take awhile for that heat to dissipate.

The national nightmare has ended... Now begins two years of watching the Congress play "Kick the Gimp".

And you will get a few millivolts.

A parlor trick.

Argh! This is what I get for trying to over-analyze a video at midnight. I did a little Googling and found that this one has been ripped to shreds on several sites. LINK
