At least Zip's got gas so she has hot water and can cook on her stovetop. A kerosene heater is all she's got to keep warm as long as the kerosene holds out. There are power outages all over so it could be days before electricity is restored.

If you can still contact Zip, tell her to make sure to leave a window cracked open when using the kerosene heater and/or gas stove. Carbon monoxide can build in a hurry in these air-tight homes of today.

If it was a massive ice-storm, she could be could be without power for days. We were hit with one of those about 3 weeks ago. By some miracle of the gods, we were spared from loosing our electric, while most of our surrounding neighbors were out for about 3 days.

In mid-michigan we just received around 6" of powdery snow. No big deal.

LIVE RACING CANCELLED WEDNESDAY

Due to cold temperature and expected high winds Turfway has cancelled live racing for Wednesday, February 14. The facility remains open for simulcasting. Racing is expected to resume Thursday with post time at 1:10.
