A principle tenet of Taoism is from macrocosm to microcosm, that man is a little version of the universe, but both according to the same template. you can see this theme repeated throughout nature. now science is verifying what taoists knew some 5,000 years ago.

A good primer on taoism is the tao te ching, by lao tzu, available for free download at http://www.sacred-texts.org.

Physicists discover that the structure of a brain cell is the same as the entire universe.

The book "Chaos" by James Gleick sort of goes into this. He describes how very simplle fractal equations can build up very complex models. Small building blocks keep linking together until something very complex is achieved. The most amazing thing in the book was a series of fractal equations that produced curves with structures that looked like ferns and other primitive plants. Like a very small amount of DNA could code the shape of an entire tree by using the fractal dynamics.

consider the fibonacci spiral, repeated throughout creation, or the golden ratio.

“All of us should treasure his (John Dillinger) Oriental wisdom and his preaching of a Zen-like detachment, as exemplified by his constant reminder to clerks, tellers, or others who grew excited by his presence in their banks: "Just lie down on the floor and keep calm."” --- Robert Anton Wilson

“Intelligence is the capacity to receive, decode and transmit information efficiently. Stupidity is blockage of this process at any point. Bigotry, ideologies etc. block the ability to receive; robotic reality-tunnels block the ability to decode or integrate new signals; censorship blocks transmission.” --- Robert Anton Wilson

I've thought of that too, what if our bodies could be considered a universe, an organ could be considered a universe, and smaller and smaller, then I wonder what is outside of the universe, or if in fact there are infinite numbers of universes. I'll look at that link, interesting topic.

Since I was a really little kid I've wondered about those concepts, instinctively felt there was something to them.

That's it! It's hard to put into words but better described by equations.

If science proves the ancients correct, then how did primitive people obtain such knowledge?

the native americans call the continent of the US 'turtle island" because from above, in space, it looks a bit like a turtle, with florida being the head of the turtle, or so the story goes.

How did a primitive people obtain such knowledge?

They were primitive in a technological sense, but not in a spiritual sense.

Today, for our society, the reverse is true.

Techno savages who can use high technology for spiritual depravity and control.

the universe doesn't run on energy, it runs on irony.

edit: the dogon tribe years before it was possible to see with exiting telescopes, a very primitive tribe, stated that sirius was surrounded by 2 stars, yet at the time, only one could be detected with their instruments.

a decade or so later, it was verified that there was a siruis a and b, just as the dogon had said.

and the dogon, same as the mayan, egyptians, etc, claim their knowledge from the 'gods' who came from the stars.

however, any of this knowledge can be discovered via various meditation techniques or hallucinogens, such as those investigated by leary, wilson, huxley and others.

Divinely Proportioned, no doubt. Lucas or General Fibonacci.

"In popular articles that play down the genetical differences among human populations, it is often stated that about 85% of the total genetic variation is due to individual differences within populations and only 15% to differences between populations or ethnic groups. ...this argument ignores the fact that most of the information that distinguishes populations is hidden in the correlation structure of the data and not simply in the variation of the individual factors." In other words, this is a deceitful argument, and those who make it know that.

"As above, so below."

Old wisdom, not just Taoism.

"We become what we behold. We shape our tools and thereafter our tools shape us." -- Marshall McLuhan, after Alexander Pope and William Blake.
