That's their "no foul, no harm" defense. It's a lie. As is the lie that she was not undercover. She was DEEP undercover, and her cover company, which included other agents in the WMD group, was blown when the Bushies outed her.
I'd love to ask each of the leakers (like Novak) just what their intentions were. I'd treat Novak as a hostile witness and ask, "Did you know that BushCo was attempting to punish Joseph Wilson by outing his wife and implying that she was instrumental in his selection to travel to Niger to investigate the yellowcake story?" "Did you know that BushCo was attempting to discredit the yellowcake evidence because the charge that Saddam had attempted to purchase it was untrue and likely "fabbed up" in The White House?" "If you were asked to help the White House discredit Wilson/Plame would you have agreed to do so?" "At any time was the subject of a presidential pardon mentioned in the event of you being criminally charged and convicted?"

He knew what he was doing would out an operative, but his loyalty to the GOP overcame his loyalty to the United States. In the case of a criminal act, protection of sources is a no-go among journalists. He hasn't got a leg to stand on, but some journalists, worried about a slippery slope, are backing him and Judy Miller, both Bush operatives.

The CIA director said that Plame was a covert agent but Gloria Tonsils says that she was. Karl Rove says that he leaked the info but Gloria says that he didn't. It is entertaining. And the Demo darkies are doing a great job. I think it's like three of them and they are merciless.

Diane Watson (D-Calif) nailed Vickie's nazi hide to the wall. Vickie keeps trying to say, as she has brayed all over Fox for years, that Plame was not covert "under the statute." Watson pointed out she was invited to speak about a Presidential Directive, under which anyone being considered covert's identity is classified. She finally got Wall-Eye to admit she was covert under the directive.
Wow, Waxman just called Toensig a liar, said they were going to fact-check everything she said and hold the record open so that documents could be entered disputing her unvarnished opinions. That's close to as nasty as it gets in a house committee hearing.
Too bad it's over. They should have kept that WH security director all day long and then called him back on Saturday.

I had similar thoughts. This thing has the potential to grow but... other than try to impeach Bush, I don't know what they can do. The Bushies have no shame and no hesitation to pursue whatever their agenda might be and they won't be stopped by words or investigations.
