This number was absurdly recorded as a "reggae" track in 1975 and archived because it sucked so terribly. New guitarist Ron Wood proposed the hit form of the song for release during a 1981 tour. It went to #2 that year in the USA. Fortunately, I have never heard the "reggae" version...

Interesting that the release dates were reversed, with "Honky Tonk Women" coming out first, in the summer of '69, and "Let It Bleed" after, at the end of '69.

They probably had it archived, and decided to use it to fill out the album. Interesting number, but no way it could have been the chartbuster that "Honky Tonk Women" was the summer of '69.
