do you assume the world would be a kinder, gentler place? Would the hounds of the NWO *not* be nipping at our heels had she obeyed? Am I wrong in thinking God was a wee bit harsh to Eve and subsequently all of mankind? As parents, I can't believe anyone here would treat a child as He did Eve. I mean talk about one strike and you're out. Anyway, thanks in advance for the input.

It was never not going to happen. For further injustice, check out the oldest book, the Book of Job.

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12 KJV

What I mean is, if it had been Dick and Jane, or John and Susie, it all would have happened the same way with the same results. We are all Adam and Eve. It was a foregone conclusion.

I would put it more like predestination, He allowed it and knew it would happen that way. It's a picture of original sin, and why we need a Saviour. But no one puts a gun to our head to commit sin.

I'm one of your religious friends. Adam and Eve is an illustrative Jewish fable. End of story.

It is not a Justice System. It is just a system.

No, I'm pondering His value system. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. If one takes the tale literally, how is it He's considered a loving God?

It makes a bit more sense with an equally powerful Devil. As I said to some seminary students I hosted through the church we attend, there are many men with a strong sense of justice who turn from devil-free Christianity because without the devil, the Christian ethical system is a farce.

As for the state of affairs being His will, that might shed some light on Jesus: "Christ, look at the mess I made."

Not that I believe any of this, but it can be made to make sense.

I neither believe it, nor does it make a bit of sense. What kind of god would punish all of mankind for something so trivial?

Very good description, but I would also add *free will* along with pre- destination.

God not only gave us the rules by which to live by - he also endowed us with free will - hence, we get to choose whether we commit the sin or not.
