It's becoming ever more clear to Americans that we're presently living under a criminal regime. The Bush junta has been attacking the Constitution since it seized power in the 2000 coup d'etat. Not content with doing away with habeas corpus, torturing war prisoners, and spying on American citizens, it's caused a new Constitutional Crisis by hiring and firing U.S. Attorneys dependent on their doing the bidding of the cabal and its Republican Party henchmen. - As we look at this new Constitutional crisis we run smack up against the pervasive criminal atmosphere created by the cabal and its Bush junta puppet regime.
 | | | | | | If the House Judiciary subcommittee and the Senate Judiciary Committee actually issue subpoenas to Karl Rove and Harriet Miers, the Bush Junta will contest the action. The case will immediately go to the US attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeffrey Taylor, | | former counselor to Gonzales and to his predecessor attorney general, John Ashcroft. Before joining the Justice Department, Taylor worked as an aide to Senator Orrin Hatch, (R, Utah), where he helped to write the Patriot Act. |
- The Attorney General's counselor Jeffrey Taylor was appointed -- not nominated, appointed -- DC US attorney six weeks before Democrats gained subpoena power!! The likelihood that a Republican Party toady like Taylor would expedite the convening of a grand jury and the indictment of top administration officials is nil.
Most legal experts predict that the matter would be tied up in procedural questions until well after Bush left the White House. - Given the total atmosphere of corruption in the Department of Justice, it will not investigate itself--certainly never prosecute itself. The situation demands a special prosecutor, with at least the independence of a Patrick Fitzherald. But no such special prosecutor will be appointed.
- Given the Democrats track record, it's safe to predict that a compromise will be reached largely on terms dictated by the Bush junta.
- During a week when it was discovered that the Bush junta forced a reduction in a federal fine against a tobacco company and when a reduction in the prison term of Jack Abramoff is being rigged, it's clear that under a criminal regime, there is no chance for justice.
