For those of you who haven't noticed, I've been removing articles posted in Breaking news that are not news....and not even close to being news.

They are someone's idea of a personal rant. And since it isn't news, I'm not going to relocate it...I'm going to REMOVE it.

In the past, articles were posted in Breaking news that weren't. People got sanctioned or banned for doing that. Lately, SOME people just post any garbage they seem to have an obsession over, and even put in their own comments. That ends today. NOW.

I'm not going to fight any of you over it. It's a lost cause. But I moderate this site, and I will ensure that NEWS is what is being posted.

Anything that is NOT news is going to be PURGED. Got that?

REMOVED. No warning. Exceptions are ONLY humor, Editorials, and Biker Bar.

If it isn't news, it has no business even BEING here!!! This is a news forum.

And for repeat offenders, you've been warned. When you keep doing it, and they keep getting removed...keep in mind I'm noting your names. When I have to remove too many posted by the same name ...your account will go as well. No additional warning. This is IT.

So, for those of you with an axe to grind, or an idea you want to shove down our throats...over and over and over...this is your ONLY warning:

Visit GoDaddy - Start your own website ... focus your obsession there. Because it isn't welcome here. You know who you are.

This is something I'm NOT even going to discuss.

END of Announcement and my part in any Discussion.

Alright...NARRATIVES...

The Gospel According to Judas by Benjamin Iscariot

Chapter 2

1. Judas was a disciple of John the Baptist. This makes a big difference.

2. Some of the stories about Jesus were nothing but Greek myths, or so I've read somewhere.

3. A great deal of what Jesus did next happened in much the same way as it is written in the other scriptures, except Judas was much more important than those liars Matthew, Mark, Luke and John bothered to mention.

4. Judas was sore upset that many people had it in for Jesus. "I will follow you anywhere, Lord" he said.

5. Jesus answered: "You are my best disciple and it is I who should be calling you Lord. There will be people who want to strip you of your peerage and cast you into the confines of Belmarsh. But I say it is better that one sinner repenteth of his vanity, arrogance and perjury than that an honest man should enter the Upper Chamber."

6. "Who said anything about repenting?" Judas smirked.

“Yes, but is this good for Jews?"

Just what did Professor Griff say to the Washington Post? Damned if I'm able to find it, only that he said something anti-semitic. He got fired from a gangsta rap collective calling themselves "Public Enemy", singing(?) about hos and stabbin whitey and selling drugs to low-rider mexicans and whatnot, crimes, all of it. Once Griff lays into hymie his ass be invisibled, now that's real power.

Goldi has become Orwellian. She is raiding archives and removing articles to the memory hole. I just checked, and last year's "LP Soon To Be Likud Post" has been removed.

I save everything and can't find anything.

I'm to the point with CDs, LPs, and books that it takes me more time to find something to listen to or read that it does to actually listen or read.

BTW, I just bought myself an early birthday present, a REALLY cool toy. My CD boombox in my bedroom is aging, so I went looking for a micro system to listen to NPR and CDs at night. I found this great box at Best Buy for $99. A solid wood box with a CD player, AM/FM radio, and a turntable to play my vinyl. And it works GREAT. I wouldn't use it as my primary music source, but for the bedroom, it's WAY more than enough.

At the rate she's going, graffiti on a bathroom wall will soon be more highly regarded by its readers (and have more of them) than postings at LP.

I hear that. Having a 12 year old boy and a 6 year old girl doesn't help either.

Really, a turntabe? Now that's impressive. I didn't think they even made them anymore. I still have about 300-400 LP's. I bet I haven't listened to them in 20 years.

I bought a new turntable about 2 years ago, paid 150 or so.

I have about 100 LPs, most of which are junk because I played them a lot, and have had many of them since I was a child. Very torn up covers, unplayable disks.

I also have a collection of metal/punk/weird shit from the last days of indie vinyl. I really only bought the record player to hear one album - an EP as a matter of fact, it's titled "Beautiful Music For Beautiful People", a compilation that came out on Amity Records, I believe.

does it look like an old time radio?

Sort of. More like a fancy version of the old record player box I had as a kid, with shiny real wood (I carried the damn thing a half mile; it's HEAVY). Best $99 I ever spent. They had boomboxes there that cost far more. My daughter was here today and she is lusting for it. She's 16 and started buying vinyl because she thinks it's cool, even though all she has is an Ipod. I think I'll get her one of these for her birthday. The downside is, she'll start raiding my vinyl collection, and most of it is irreplaceable and not available on CD.

OTOH, she's my kid and I take great joy in seeing her take interest in things I like too. Wish I could get her to even notice baseball. I take her to Cub games every now and then. The last time, after a veggie hot dog, cotton candy, a coke, popcorn, and a tshirt, she said, you know dad, I really like baseball games. (pause) Except for the actual game.

Yes, we were and apparently we're also quite unusual. We're able to recognize change and adjust appropriately to it. Many, it seems, are unable, and/or unwilling to admit that the earth beneath them has shifted and it's time to move on.

You be hardcore. BTW, if you want to replace old stuff at reasonable prices, try Reckless Records here in Chicago. They have a website where you can scroll through their vintage vinyl offering. When I was unemployed, I sold a lot of vinyl to them. They gave me a fair price, and resold it at a fair markup. If you have particular needs, they'll notify you by email when they have it and hold it for you if you like the price. Good people. Record nerds without being jerks.

I have a beautiful vintage Sanyo (yes, Sanyo, they used to be high-tech) turntable from the 70s. I got it at a place here for $88, and it's perhaps the best turntable I ever owned, including a Macintosh. (Gad, I'm such an audio slut.)

Coming from the other side, I was wrong about Reagan (apart from the Central America stuff, which I'm not sure he was even aware of). When the DU types were ranking on him during the funeral, I had to admit he had good intentions and did a lot of good things, unlike these punks.

That's when I realized that liberals and conservatives, at least honest ones, have a lot more in common than it would seem. Unlike those thugs, we really love this country. I still think there will be a populist party arising at some point.

At least the Dems are backing populist guys like Webb. As opposed to purging them, like the GOP.

I have to concur. The decency here is amazing. I got abused in leftie sites (not to the level of http://boottothehead.com and LP and my very brief appearances at FR) and got sick of the nitpicking crap. This is a welcoming place where you can actually discuss issues. It's educational. I can listen to another perspective and judge myself, because it's not phrased as "believe this or you're a commie."

My daughter is trying to jump from sophomore in high school to college, at a Great Books place called Shimer. We spent the weekend there and they actually had a poetry class for parents so we could see how a class runs there. After about five minutes, we were fighting to read the next poem and when the kids, who were off doing an essay contest for scholarships, came back, they kept them in the hall so we could continue the discussion.

When you open things up, you open minds.

I had never read this poem before, and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Here Dead Lie We Because We Did Not Choose

Here dead we lie because we did not choose

To live and shame the land from which we sprung.

Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose;

But young men think it is, and we were young.

A.E. Housman

That was written after WWI, but it's even more applicable today.

I hope he's everything that's advertised; he seems to be so far.

I completely agree about populism. It's a winning formula that neither party can package and deliver. I remember the warning Buchanan gave the Pubbies during the NAFTA debate. He said if they opposed it (as you recall Clinton literally purchased it w/congressional pork) they'd be in the majority for the foreseeable future. They not only didn't listen to him, they literally read him out of the party. Oh well, it’s water under the bridge now. We’re owned by the corporatists, for now at least.
