Rabbi Henry Sobel, who has led the Sao Paolo Jewish congregation, told the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper that he still plans on joining other Brazilian religious leaders next month in a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI when he visits Brazil, a predominantly Roman Catholic nation. "I am not Catholic, so I cannot ask for the pope's forgiveness," Sobel said in remarks translated by the Associated Press in a story Friday. "But I will ask the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Israel to forgive me. Perhaps in the pope's presence I could feel his humility and have some of it enter my soul." Sobel faces shoplifting charges in Palm Beach, Fla., where he was arrested in March. He is well regarded in Brazil for his activism against the dictatorship in that country in the 1960s and for promoting inter-religious harmony.

If the good rabbi knew Jesus, he'd know his venture to see the pope for absolution was unnecessary and un-Biblical. This is a rather curious statement by a rabbi. But then I'm biased.
Law Enforcement Against Prohibition I bet a Rabbi somewhere on earth got a parking ticket or didn't flush his doodoo in a public restroom either but the Jew media won't report on it. It's amazing this slipped through their web of control. The evilness of the dirty Jew just never seems to end.
Oy! I thought I'd heard everything. It sounds like the lead in to a bad joke: "A Jew gets caught shoplifting, so he goes to see an old former Nazi to ask forgiveness." The Rabbi already has a closer connection to God than the Pope, simply because he's not the head of a large criminal organization that spreads the globe and centuries. God save us from Popes, Cardinals, and Evangelists.
