BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Virginia Tech gunman Seung-Hui Cho was as mysterious in death as he was in life, leaving behind few clues for medical examiners. Dr. William Massello, the assistant state medical examiner based in Roanoke, said Sunday that Cho died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his temple after firing enough shots to wound his 32 victims more than 100 times.

But there was nothing unusual about Cho's autopsy, he said, and nothing that would have hinted at any psychological problems that might have led him to commit the worst shooting massacre in modern U.S. history.

Pathologists sent blood samples for toxicology testing to determine if Cho was on drugs at the time of his rampage, but Massello said it could take as long as two weeks to get results.

Police are still searching for a motive. Cho, the 23-year-old English major who was described as reclusive and extremely shy, left behind a package of videos and letters railing against privilege and wealth, but did not say how he chose his victims.

Those victims apparently did not fight back against Cho's ambush. Massello said he did not recall any injuries suggesting a struggle. Many victims had defensive wounds, indicating they tried to shield themselves from Cho's gunfire, he said.

Massello said Cho hit many of his victims several times.

Authorities had to return to the victims' dorm rooms and homes to collect fingerprints so they could make identifications, according to an official close to the investigation who spoke on condition of anonymity because the probe is ongoing.

Several of the victims had gunshot wounds to the head, the official said.

Many of the victims' bodies left the medical examiner's office on Thursday, the official said, adding that several major airlines offered to transport the remains back to their families for free. The official was not sure if Cho's body was among those that had been released.

Psychologists and criminologists have suggested in recent days that Cho suffered from a mental illness, but Massello said such disorders are usually neurological or chemical in nature and unlikely to be identified during an autopsy, even if Cho's brain had been intact.

Massello said the autopsy reports are being typed, and he was unsure when they would be released. He said it took four doctors working for days to complete the autopsies on all 32 victims and Cho.

Also Sunday, state police said investigators have still been unable to definitively tie Cho to the dormitory where the first two victims were found. One of Cho's guns was linked to the first shooting, but authorities have no other evidence that ties him to that crime scene.

Police searched the dorm again for fingerprints Saturday night and were reviewing the information, said state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.

All those feel-good photos are crap.

He learned it from the video games.

I've already said too much.

That is an outright lie. He didn't PLAY VIDEO GAMES. When they went through his stuff, he didn't have any of those things, which tells me that people are more interested in blaming the inanimate, than they are blaming the person who did the deed.

I have to put the "blame the video games" bullshit up there with the gun-grabbers who have been pissing and moaning about "oh, if only the ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds had still been in effect!" now that we know the stupid fuck was using 10 round mags he got on Ebay.

I read that his face was partially blown off making identification difficult. I assumed he did a self-inflicted mouth or chin shot.

Anyone...question...did the feds release any post office footage of Cho mailing his package? I haven't been following this story closely. And we know how the postal service is monitored with cameras and all that other stuff.

Well duh... To carry a weapon or fight back is a felony with mandatory prison time in a gun-free-zone. Cowering with your hands over your head before you are executed is perfectly legal though.

I have not heard of any footage of Cho mailing his package.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

There was plenty of evidence of the package on the 'net and its contents aired on NBC. You know why I asked my question, to see if the means justify the ends.

Yep. Die and be a martyr, or fight back and go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect 200.00, but you MAY be a target of multiple civil suits for protecting yourself and your children along with rotting in jail with the ButtBrothers waiting for a chance to jump your bones... IOW, TheStateInc chose not to reveal the existence of such tape, or to release it. Largest mass murder in US history? You know DAMN well the FBI got that tape once they traced the dropoff, unless it was small enough to drop into a mail box. ...whether or not he was on it we'll probably never know.

Of course we all know that the Hinckley family was friends with the Bush, Sr. family (right?).

Next we'll find out that Marvin Bush is actually Hu's father.
