I saw the Beach Boys in concert when I was 16 years old, at the Mississippi River Festival in Edwardsville, Illinois. Also saw the Who there, and B.B. King, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Harry Chapin, and a bunch of others I can't remember offhand.

Your title reminded me of this. That was some group of bands at that concert. Harry Chapin's "cats in the cradle" and "taxi" both blow me away.

Beach Boys - God Only Knows (Lei'd in Hawaii, live 1967)

This was always my favorite Beach Boys song, although this live version sounds a bit choppy compared to the CD version playing in the other room.

How can anyone not love the Beach Boys?

A few years ago I walked by a van full of girls, about 16 years old, and the Beach Boys were coming out of their speakers, and they were bouncing along with it. I just walked by and smiled at them, and thought, "The stories I could tell you."
