It's a hard wind blows through the buildings and empty lots
As the corner of michigan and 31st waits in ruin
And the echoes of happy shoppers faded long, long, long ago
Back when chrysler, gm and ford went mad with greed

Oh, how we hoped it would turn out right
Going back to detroit

Kid could ride his bike through any neighborhood in town
No fear of getting jacked for his sneakers
Drive-bys only happened to the purple gang
Back before the rebellion of '67

Still we dreamed it could turn out right
Movin back to detroit
Drove down from st. claire, took all night
Going back to detroit

From east grand boulevard to michigan and 31st
Over to livernois and warren
And then the upper duplex of elmer and mcgraw street
And then the big move to our own whole house in lincoln park
Which shattered into a rental in taylor
And the endless search for the great good place
Was redeemed by the power of loud electric guitars

Up the river it's all forests and secret trails
And forts and swamps and dogs and boats
And the day held a million adventures for a boy of seven
But that was before the time of later ghosts

Lost paradise left behind
Huck finn hits the steets and the neon light
Hope against hope it'll turn out right
Going back to detroit.
Drove down from algonac, took all night
Going back to detroit

Saw this a while back, thanks. www.lyricstime.com/wayne-...ck-to-detroit-lyrics.html

SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE-DISRAELI GEARS (1967)

It was that song that compelled me to buy an ARBITER FUZZ FACE, and Jimi used one, too.

And, despite the leaps in technology since '66 the FUZZ FACE is still going strong, either a "meticulously faithful reproduction of the 1969-70 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz" with the original BC108 silicon transistor or with some new but equally satisfying innards.

SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE-DISRAELI GEARS (1967)

Was there ever a time in our history like that? New music came flying at us on a weekly basis, most of it cutting edge good. I had an FM radio in my '68 VW, so I got it all including all the alternative stations from NYC. Lots of fun had by all :P

Did you ever play Hunter Mountain, or the Hampton Bays?

Did you ever play Hunter Mountain, or the Hampton Bays?

No.

Syracuse, Utica, Viagara Falls, (heh heh) Farmingdale (on L.I.) Ithaca and The Manhattan Playboy Club were my only NY gigs.

Of course I played all around NY in many N.J. towns, most of which I can't remember besides AC, Tom's River and Cherry Hill. And of course I played Bridgeport, Groton, New Haven and Mystic, and all over MASS, NH and Maine.

If memory serves the only two eastern seaboard states I never played were RI and DE.

Regarding that wonderful musical era of our "yewt" we were truly blessed to be young then.

Music and goils were my life and Hell, back then there was no hazard to worshipping the Goddess that a shot and two weeks vacation wouldn't cure! ;)
