You can find the occasional who is against illegal immigration. FR will ban any deviation from the Bush regime.

I visited FR for the first time in at least a year after the anti-illegal immigration measure passed in Farmers Branch the other day, just to see what the FReaks thought about it. I figured they'd be celebrating and high-fiving. I typed "immigration" into the search engine and the last thread allowed on the topic was from Nov. 5, 2006.

JimRob banned a spat of them recently with his bug zapper thread meant to bait RudyBots into defending their boy, which caused them to be booted. I always got the impression that FR allows criticism of Bush provided that it's on the grounds that Bush isn't neocon ENOUGH. In other words, Bush is isn't enough of a free trader (went along with anti-dumping), insufficiently pro- Israel and anti-Arab (i.e. willing to negotiate with Abbas, friendly relations with Saudis), or isn't enough of an open borders enthusiast (after a lot of arm twisting from his party, he finally signed the border fence). On the other hand, attacking Bush for being in favor of any of these things shows you the door. As far as I know, most neocons have all of Bush's bad qualities multiplied by 100, so this shouldn't apply.

You don't hear much about him, though I have heard him mentioned in tandem with Dr. Paul the few imes the topic of the GOP field came up. That petition thread is about the limit of how deeply I can mine the depth of advocacy to help Dr. Paul. I am a Green on Democratic turf anyway you look at it. Which is why I made sure to emphasize the free speech aspect of the petition. They are far more tolerent then FR, but they are alarmed and fearful of neocons and Bush people too. So I bend over backward to prevent any misunderstandings about who I am, and why I've posted there.

We must have a place for civility if we are going to heal the socio-political divides of this nation and build a better society. far too often, alienation and anger gets the better of us. And this is not something that is consistent with making a Just and better, more cohesive society. Destructive anger derails Democracy. It inflates and kills communication. It is human and happens, but it is a root of violence and is not healthy. There are times when just people have to fight in anger and opposition, but only when absolutely necessary. We have to remember we are all human, all Americans, and in many ways the same boat. Posting this appeal for signatures at DU is healthy to do and makes good sense. Read my thread there, I made it plain that by signing it they promoted free speech, this is common ground that when shared builds bridges. I might add I am surprised by your post, after all, as a Christian does this not fit into how you are taught to live your life? As far as why I post there, and the Smirking Chimp, I post there for the same reasons I post here, to learn to understand people better, and to learn how o think through my opinions and beliefs, and how to best articulate them. This forum in any event is far to slow moving to fully satisfy my urge to read and post. I Started out in 1995 posting at the Well and the new forum at pathfinder .com/Time .com/politics which back then matched the Free Republic in reads and posts.
