Thanks. This evil war will change the way America lives over the next ten years.

Maybe our "leaders" will start to become accountable for their actions and lies.

Just got the word

Tom...

Having last a brother and several friends in long ago wars, this makes me feel hollow inside. Young Americans paying for the sins of the elders, those that wanted this war.

May God bless and keep your nephew.

Just got the word that ... my ... nephew ... was ... hit by an IED ...

Tom:

My thoughts and prayers are with your nephew, as they are with you, as well. I also am carrying a message for you from JesseJane, a poster here for some time. She writes, "tell Tom, JesseJane sends her prayers for his complete recovery, and speedy return home."

My 19 year old nephew is on his way to ME now.

Sorry to hear that Tom. I hope "broken" means only that and that he'll have a complete recovery and a has a full life ahead of him. Certainly other soldiers have suffered worse, which perhaps is something to be thankful for?

My own nephew finished a tour last month or thereabouts, but I imagine he'll be headed back at some point.

Nothing and no one over there is worth a hair on Adam's head.

May he have a speedy recovery.

On a practical note, get him lots of C and L-glutamine, if feasible.

keep us posted - we are interested. my nephew will be going over there someday - after he finishes college that is paid for by an ROTC scholarship. He too calculated it was the best way to pay for college.

Thanks kiki.

I have a hard time with my distress with Adam, and the 650,000 dead of the Iraq's

I do not know how to reconcile the .... i don't know how to reconcile much of any of this. I am getting angery at the political system that sold us this war and the media that cheerleaded it all.

I do not wish them well at this black point.

I rode my motorcycle to Salem today and saw a man in the new uniform downtown with an 82nd Airborne Division unit patch on the right shoulder which makes it a combat patch. He was on recruiter duty.

Turns out he was in my very same old company in the same battalion. It was interesting talking to a man whose dad was in the same time I forst joined in the late 70s.

He wants to go back to Iraq and I tolk him flat out he was a damn fool. I can't understand for the life of me understand a sane man doing is; but he's Airborne.

Paratroopers feel strong loyalty to their units and feel they let their buddies down if they don't go back when they go back. He said he misses his maroon beret and said he hates doing 'leg' duty. (non Airborne)

He started out calling me 'sir' when he started talkng to me, but I stopped him. Even after all these years, someone in uniform calling me sir when I was not an offecer when I was active duty makes me feel weird.

I hope your nephew recovers and doesn't lose a limb. I am thankful though that he lived. If he suffers any problems from having served such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, get help, early. Don't listen to excuses from the V.A. that they can't help. They can, you just have to not take no for an answer.

Just got the news that my 20 yo nephew is badly injured in Baghdad

I offer my deepest sympathy for the injuries that Adam has sustained and appreciation for his efforts in serving our nation.

If you have not seen the film - Flags of our Fathers - you might take a look at it when your nerves settle down a bit.

Although I am strongly against how our military is being used in the Mideast - I still have complete respect and love for the soldiers themselves.

Best wishes and a speedy recovery for Adam!

Tom...

That is what is important here.

It is GOOD for you, for your nephew, and for this country that you cannot reconcile this horrible "war".

To do so would mean that you accept in some measure this sad chapter in the history of our country.
