Fort Wayne, IN - Price Hits $3.59 a Gallon at Service Stations Across Fort Wayne

Another big increase in gas prices across the area Tuesday, causing customers to scramble for a fill up before painful price hikes kicked in.

The price for unleaded regular at many Fort Wayne service stations now on the brink of $3.60 a gallon.

The price for regular unleaded January 26th was $1.99 here in the city.

If you filled up an SUV with a 25-gallon tank Tuesday at $3.59 a gallon, you would pay an extra $40.00 for the same amount of gas.

It's a situation that's causing gas customers to go into survival mode.

What is the world coming to?

At the Meijer station on Illinois Road noon-time, people were lined up to pay $3.35 a gallon.

That's because most surrounding stations had already hiked prices to $3.59.

Back at Meijer, a woman got a text message, alerting her that the location's lower price would only last another hour.

"All I know is we got a holiday week-end coming up and this is going to make it really bad for a lot of people who want to travel. It's very, very bad. But what can you do, you have to have it, you have to have it," said Teri Kitchen of Fort Wayne.

For David Bishop, a funny thing happened on the way to the filling station; he ran out of gas.

Someone helped push his car next to an island of pumps.

"They need to lower the prices. Maybe with that, I could make it to the pump next time,” said Bishop with a chuckle.

But the last laugh was on Meijer.

A couple minutes later, a store clerk tracked us down to say Bishop had gotten off with a real bargain.

“He drove off. So I don't know if he's going to see this, but it could have been human error, but you didn't pay for your gas. Prices the way they are right now, we get a lot of that, so it happens all the time, more and more," said Travis Sheets, who works at the Meijer.

It's more like eight bucks, but who's counting? Fourty bucks sounds a lot better. Keep the sheeple in a panic!

AH....nothing to worry about. Limbaugh chalked it up to normal market forces. Nothing here...move along...
