maybe they'll even patch him up so well that he'll go back - in a year or so. or maybe he'll get lucky and they'll discharge him with only minor disabilities. The Stryker probably had armor underneath I'd think. I think they reinforced them all underneath. It's hard to be happy about 2 broken legs & major burns on your arms & legs etc., but if I were him I'd be happy to be out.

but if I were him I'd be happy to be out.

I have a hunch he has had a belly full.

His other cousin got a 7.62x39 in the ankle during a tremendous firefight at the battle of Sader City, 2004. Most of his buddies were killed, and he was reduced to useing a 12 g shotgun after all the ammo of the c-240 were used up. It was extra special nasty.

They both are just children, really. I am sure they have no idea of what the political and family (Bush and the weird religious jesus loves you - lets kill them all) forces that are driving the evil conflicts.

None were fluent in Arabic. Or knew a dusting of the culture. Or the Ancient history. Or the recent history. They prolly read the comixs in the daily newspaper though. That's what most 19 - 20 yos do.

The recruiter for Rilley promised him he could shoot a .50 machine gun. That was what sealed it for Rilley.

As it was four days in to Badhdad, he was blasted by the local militia and totally empited the C-240's ammo, had several of his troops blown to bits in his HUM VEE, and used the emergency 12 gauge shotgun to get the hell out of there.

Adam may have a tough time, he is burned, and has compound fractures on both legs..

So he should be landing at the San Antonio Burn Center in an hour or so.

I saw two college students today, both young men. One was missing both his lower legs, the other his right leg just above the knee.

I thanked both for their service, and both said, "thanks sir." It is better then asking directly as they should be thanked, and paid dearly for doing so.

I like to know because I am always wanting to know every nuance of my environment Bush is to blame for. I was so angry after seeing the one with no lower legs I had been heading to eat lunch but changed my mind.

Indeed. There should be an 'offended the world with neocon advocacies' list run like a sexual preditor database with them fully registered and monitored where ever they go.

Even then I feel uneasy with them at large.

Don't think I've ever heard of a C-240. There is an airpane, a Convair C-240 and a Mercedes Benz C240, but I can't find any reference to weaponry with that designation. Any idea what it shoots? Is it a .50 BMG?

I may have mis spoke. It is a high power fully auto combat rifle, shoots a 39 bullet just like an AK 47 or an SKS but with a wopping alot of powder behind it.

It's .308 NATO (7.62 x 51) maybe like an M60 only mounted on the Hummer.

Probably meant M240. 7.62MM NATO, belt-fed, crew-served, machine gun. Replaced the M60.

Well, I can't find the C-240 thinggy either. So I am not remembering the designation. So I am not nameing the correct weapon.

It is the step up from the M-16's, a heavy (or heavier) MG, shoots a 7,62x54, IIRC.

Not a .50.

OK, that is a .223 cal only with a larger slug than an M-16. And it has a different number of twists in the barrel.

We all laughed at the literal nature of a simple man, Forrest Gump. Then we seem to be equally the victims of our environment. Crazy. Ironic.

I have a friend who went there with the Oregon Guard. He shot a man who was driving toward his roadblock too fast and then worked on him getting bloody in the process of trying to stop the ineviable result of 7.62 rounds when they impact human flesh.

He had the guy's wife and two little girls crying and screaming as they ran around hysterical. He got a waiver and did not go with his unit that recently deployed to Afghanistan. He is a mess and hates life. He drinks way too much too.

The vets of this war are going to be underfunded and tormented, just like many Vietnam vets are/were. Many of them are dead now, it just took longer for the Vietnam War to kill them.

Yes. Hope is important. I always hope for the best, expect the worst to happen, that seems to be realistic.

I am pleased when good things happen, and don't go insane when the chimp soils the White House furniture again some way, or gets more people better then he is killed or maimed.

Mike you seem to have a realistic based hopeful outlook of life. And I do so admire that.

Seperately - I think I have a weasel of some sort that has dug a hole quite close to our front door. I caught a glimpse of him moving in his weasel ways, and the diggings are clear.

Is there anything I might feed him (I was thinking of anchovies) at the entry of the hole?? I love the idea of weasels cause we have a rabbit plague here.

They seem to know instantly what an egg is and are good at sucking them dry. And they keep better the other offerings. Just remember though, preditors are like anyone else, feed them too much, they won't bother with going after prey.

Don't ever try to pet it either, but I figured you already knew that. Nothing worse then to be bitten by an animal that can worm out of any grasp you try to get on it, and they will go for the go in the clothes and... you don't want that.

Weasels are quite different then ferrets. You can tame them, but that is diferent from domesticated. Tame means they can decide the friendship is over just like that, and weasels can get to your eyes, mouth, ears or throat very quickly.

I'll stick with ferrets.

you can sure hope. although I keep trying to explain to people that the failure of man is on display for all to see. We cannot rule ourselves. Please don't think I don't participate in trying to make the system work, I've tried to educate many people. It earns me enemies & grief. and I do vote.

that is a tremendous story about the other cousin in the firefight. I do support the troops. They are our people. Most of them are not psychopaths.

My nephew will visit this weekend with his new fiance. He is a senior in college. ROTC has paid his way in college. He will go into the marines. His mom thinks it's cool. I gave him a nice lecture that it was not a good idea to join the military when he graduated from high school. He listened politely. then he joined up.

here is a bible verse.

"Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."

point is - George Bush will be punished. god will punish. Judgement is coming.

Two months in intensive care. Rt arm third degree burned. Some finger tip may be lost, some fingers may be lost. Muscle tissue in arm missing.

Seems there were serious thoughts as to amputating both his legs below the knee, decided to operate instead.

He talked to his mom today. Heavily sedated of course.

He'll be OK, but it's going to be a really tough slog for awhile.

I find I have to demand that my mind focus on something else besides their situation, and back it comes. My dreams have been unsettleting the last few days.

I cannot imagine the world of his parents right now.

I can't either. I can't even imagine what could be said to them to try to make it ok - it's not even in the realm of *ok* that this happened to him.

I'm glad he's home, I hope he heals quickly and completely.

He has got the most important thing though (outside a bacteria free ICU) and that is alot of loving family that are rooting and preying for him in every way they can.
