Raylene; I just talked to Sarah an hour or so ago. Adam's hands are simply black. Susan was very upset when she saw him, as you can imagine. One of the trauma nurses told her that they have much worse burns and that he'll be ok. That relieved Susan. Alice Ann is there and I believe Liz is on the way if not in San Antonio already. Please continue to keep us posted. Also, if you can think of anything that can be done to help them, let us know. I keep trying to think of what can be done and just don't know what to do. I'm taking my family to Hope this weekend and we'll visit with Susan's dad. Thanks;

I just got off the phone w/ Susan. It is so sad. The good news is that Adam knows they are there and his vital signs even went up when he heard Susan's voice. He can't talk and his eyes are swollen shut but he knows they are there.

Don't be. According to Bush, my nephew is just a comma in history, so not to worry.

they've all got a tough row to hoe for a very long time. at least he's in a good facility and it sounds like he'll be receiving good medical care. if only these men would just say "no, i won't go."

They cannot.

Life in prison or being shot are not good alternatives.

once they're in, i get that, but they don't have to enlist. it's a matter of education. as this iraq debacle continues, and the majority of americans are seeing it for what it is, i believe the MIC will have a much harder time getting the willing bodies they need to perpetrate their diabolical plan. btw, why don't the warmongers and supporters of this mess, such as BeAChooser, enlist?

Perhaps the engrained sense of country, duty and honor is greater than some perceive. Once a part of the military, these factors are reinforced. I realize that seems perhaps olde fashioned, nevertheless it is a very strong factor.

The military is charged with obeying civilian authority at all times, that cannot be abridged.

We cannot ask the military to right our wrong,we voted in this corrupt government, the fault lies here not with the military.

Bush has already done great harm to the military, more than they deserved.

did we? i don't think so, but the fact remains that we aren't, enmasse, doing anything about it now, so you and i are in agreement.

We equals about 120 million voters, there is no divorcing ourselves from the result. It is a collective responsibility, whether we like it or not.

As for civilian responsibility, it is fear and only fear that restrains us from doing what needs to be done. You have only to watch and read here on this forum to see those that are afraid to say the words, revolution or civil war, this indicates the government has done its job well in protecting itself from the unwashed masses. The foot soldiers of the military have no way out, they lose whether they fight or run. The General officer corp has only to resign, take a comfortable pension as their reward and leave in protest. The grunt is there for whatever reason and has no way out, none.

I myself don't believe in democracy. I think it's a flawed ideology.

Me neither and whatever name you care to call this current form of government, it should be ripped out from its roots and destroyed. It isn't elected, Representatives and Senators are bought and paid for, and it controls a military that obeys orders that amount to international crimes. It's evil as are those who direct it.

Perhaps you have had the opportunity to read what Gen. Smedley Butler had to say about misuse of our military. Butler spoke out seventy years ago but Americans paid no heed then or now.

Banks, money, unbridaled capitalism walk hand and hand. The rest of us are nothing.

Smedley Butler

I've read clips from his book Cyni, and it's my belief his words had something to do w/Eisenhauser's warning to this country of the growing power of the military-industrial complex.
