n a Friday morning CNN segment on border security, conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham was interviewed about the implications of the recent TB scare, where an infected man was waved through by a border inspector despite a computer warning, for President Bush's immigration bill.
Ingraham agreed that the border incident highlighted problems with the bill and was then asked to commented on Bush's statement this past Tuesday: "If you want to kill the bill, if you don't want to do what's right for America, you can pick one little aspect out of it, you can use it to frighten people."
Ingraham said she didn't think that border security was "one little aspect" and pointed out that "to certify that the border is enforced in this bill ... all it requires is that the president certify ... that the money has been allocated."
She went on to take a certain amount of offense at Bush's remarks, telling the CNN host, "But to insult his base -- I mean, I hope he thinks he's going to be saved by the liberal elites at CNN."
