Fox News: Paris Hilton’s Jail Time ‘Sounds Like Abu Ghraib’ »

Paris Hilton headed to the Los Angeles County jail yesterday to begin her 4523-day prison sentence. While there, she will be allowed outside her cell “for an hour each day to shower, watch television in the day room, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone.”

Today on Fox News’s morning show Fox and Friends, the hosts noted that Hilton will not be allowed to speak on her cell phone while in jail. Guest host Greg Kelly then commented, “It sounds like Abu Ghraib. C’mon, that’s not cool.” Watch it:

Being without a cell phone is not like Abu Ghraib. From a New York Times article, 1/12/05:

“He handcuffed me to the door for eight hours and the next day I had a dislocated shoulder and they took me to the hospital,” he said. Specialist Graner watched as another soldier urinated on Mr. Al-Sheikh, the detainee testified, and Specialist Graner made another detainee eat from a toilet. He threatened to rape them and their wives, and made them eat pork and make statements against their Muslim faith, Mr. Al-Sheikh said.

Pure comedy.

Nothing. The "Victim" is the state in the case of Paris. She drove without a license- which had been suspended.

Most people in our prisons are there because they aggrieved the state- not an actual person.

Glad Burke knew.

Being a "Public nuisance" would have been my guess.

She is in custody for violation of the conditions of her parole on earlier charges to which she pleaded no contest.

Paris Hilton was apprehended for DUI last year. She pleaded no-contest to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge. She received 36 months parole for a 90-day sentence and her license was suspended. She got caught twice violating parole by driving on the suspended license. She was stopped in January and let off with a warning. She was stopped again in February and prosecutors moved to revoke her probation.

This latest time she was apprehended driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone at night with her headlights off. Also, it probably did not help that she showed up late for the probation hearing.

The original charge stated Paris Hilton:

"did willfully and unlawfully drive a vehicle while being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and a drug and under the combined influence of an alcoholic beverage and a drug."

The terms of her probation included:

"Enroll within 21 days...and successfully complete an approved...SB 1176 12 hours...alcohol education program..."

The motion to revoke her probation included:

"To comply with this condition, Hilton needed to enroll in an SB 1176 program by February 12, 2007. Not only is there no proof that she enrolled by that date, but it appears from the court's files that she had not enrolled in the program as of April 17, 2007, more than two months past the February 12, 2007 deadline."

I'm surprised the masses are not screaming for her head to be chopped off by now, while our PTB engage in horrific war crimes.

Interesting isn't it. The control the press appears to have over so many citizens. As Red has observed, to many people truth is what the TV tells you.

The very definition of a police state.
