Manchester, NH - Freelance reporter Matt Lepacek, reporting for http://Infowars.com, was arrested for asking a question to one of Giuliani's staff members in a press conference. The press secretary identified the New York based reporter as having previously asked Giuliani about his prior knowledge of WTC building collapses and ordered New Hampshire state police to arrest him.

Jason Bermas, reporting for Infowars and America: Freedom to Fascism, confirmed Lepacek had official CNN press credentials for the Republican debate. However, his camera was seized by staff members who shut off the camera, according to Luke Rudkowski, also a freelance Infowars reporter on the scene. He said police physically assaulted both reporters after Rudkowski objected that they were official members of the press and that nothing illegal had taken place. Police reportedly damaged the Infowars-owned camera in the process.

Reporters were questioning Giuliani staff members on a variety of issues, including his apparent ignorance of the 9/11 Commission Report, according to Bermas. The staff members accused the reporters of Ron Paul partisanship, which press denied. It was at this point that Lepacek, who was streaming a live report, asked a staff member about Giuliani's statement to Peter Jennings that he was told beforehand that the WTC buildings would collapse.

Giuliani's press secretary then called over New Hampshire state police, fingering Lepacek.

What was the charge? Asking an embarrassing question?

Here's how that works. First comes the arrest, no charge(s) necessary. This is usually followed by a resisting and assault on an officer charge. Only then will the original charge be trumped up. Welcome to the system....

Giuliani to Skip Iowa Straw Poll

Iowa Republican Party Chairman Ray Hoffman questioned Giuliani's decision.

``He was never in it officially. He's still going to be a part of the ballot and people who like him can vote for him. I believe it's a mistake but I'm not running his campaign,'' Hoffman said.

A fundraiser for the state GOP, the straw poll traditionally has been a solid measure of a candidate's organizational strength in Iowa. Unlike most states that hold primaries, Iowa holds presidential caucuses, and a strong organization is necessary to ensure voters participate in that contest.

Anyone with a ticket can vote in the straw poll, and the campaigns traditionally purchase blocks of tickets to distribute to their supporters.

If Giuliani is doing the kind of retail campaigning in NH that NH voters expect, I don't see how he can insulate himself from this kind of question.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

That's supposed to be a charge justifying arresting people?

Update Needed. . . It was Goffstown Police 603-49 (1+ / 0-) Recommended by:lysias The NH State Police are denying any involvement with this arrest. It was the Goffstown police, they can be reached at 603-497-4858. This is the same department that arrested Alterman two nights earlier, I believe. This needs to be updated so the calls go to the right place.

I know Gofftown pretty well. I know the prosecutor and the presiding judge at the Goffstown District Court, (Judge Paul Lawrence). The other Judge there, part time, is Judge Michael Ryan. Both are really good judges, and they are not going to look upon this kindly, unless there is something missing from the tape. What possible grounds? I can't imagine. Criminal Trespass doesn't work. CT is a misdemeanor, not a felony, unless there is something unusual about a presidential debate.

I urge supporters of this reporter to go to Goffstown District Court at his arraignment and get an interview with the prosecutor (Kerry Steckawitz), who is a lawyer as well as Captain (I believe). I would definitely file a civil suit.

Presidential candidate Ron Paul was informed about what had occurred and stated words to the effect that while we are supposed to be spreading freedom and democracy abroad, we couldn't even handle it n New Hampshire.

We are now being inundated by media requests and expect this controversy to receive attention on the major news networks and newspapers over the coming days.

The fact that the Giuliani camp views it as legitimate to have members of the media intimidated, assaulted and arrested for asking a question should be a wake up call for the kind of America Giuliani would oversee as a future President and this incident should contribute to derailing his entire campaign.

The actions of the New Hampshire State Police were completely unconstitutional and we are now pursuing criminal indictments against the police involved as well as the Giuliani staffers that assaulted the group and their property, and demanding that any charges against Matt Lepacek be dropped immediately.

Look at that title. Seems the Secret Service was involved.

Yes is does.

---------------------------------------------

Matt Lepacek, the reporter who was kicked out of the CNN press room and arrested after asking Rudy Giuliani's staff a question, has now been released on bail. Criminal indictments are now being pursued against the police involved as well as Giuliani's staffers for their flagrant abuse of the First Amendment, assault and wrongful arrest.

Watch the video below.

I believe that this should be considered conspiring to violate the constitutionally protected rights of the arrested reporter and he should sue the perpetrators personally for their participation.

After that fails, I think it's time to start tarring and feathering these scum.
