Surprise, surprise. The internet thinks that Ron Paul won the debate last night. What is the deal with his supporters? Are they just a bunch of IT guys who have built little voting programs to stuff the ballot on behalf of their man?

CNN has a poll right now asking about last night’s debate. Ron Paul leads the field by a wide margin in each of the following questions:

1) Who do you think won the debate?

2) Who seemed to know most about the issues?

3) Who had the best one-liner or comeback?

4) Whose performance was most surprising?

5) Whose campaign got the biggest boost from the debate?

And of course he is not leading this question: 1) Who had the most disappointing performance at the debate?

Seriously folks, what is the deal? How could anyone in their right mind think Ron Paul won last night’s debate? The guy barely got 20 words in the whole time. I think it actually diminishes Ron Paul’s message for his supporters to so obviously stuff the ballots in these polls that can be manipulated. Real polling shows Ron Paul in a dead heat with “other” and Mickey Mouse, so it’s obviously a farce for him to be leading in these online polls.

And as a funny aside, not surprisingly, Ron Paul isn’t leading the polling for this question “Who was the snappiest dresser?” Apparently suave Mitt Romney just beat out Ron Paul’s cheap suit and crooked tie.

The mainstream press seems to think that the big three (McCain, Giuliani, and Romney) all had strong performances last night. Also, Mike Huckabee was a pleasant surprise. His sharp wit and gentle demeanor seemed to please a lot of folks. That being said, he still has very little shot at winning the nomination. So let’s please narrow the field down before the next debate.

I've been thinking about the difference between Ron Paul's internet support, which is extreme, and his "polling" support, which is negligible. First, the polls are done in a manner that excludes a lot of the population, especially those without land lines, etc. Secondly, the polls are dated. That said, a responsible polling would still likely show him to be in single digits.

But on the internet it's vastly different. And the reason for this is obvious. The internet voters who "spam" on his behalf are passionate about him. More so than the supporters of any other candidate. Why is this so? Because these are people who have studied politics and are curious and passionate about politics, history and keeping themselves informed. They form, basically, an intelligentsia about these issues.

They are the bloggers who correct you when you say the Gold Standard was demolished in 1974 when we went away from Bretton-Woods. They are the people who will correct you when you say the Iranian Prime Minister was deposed by the CIA at the behest of Shell Oil (it wasn't Shell Oil, it was a different oil company).

They are passionate about history and politics and truth and accuracy. Accordingly, they are passionate about Ron Paul. Because he is a student of history who understands how far our country has gone astray from its promise. He appeals to others who've had the passion and diligence to inform themselves of the truth, because if you take an honest look at our history and an open minded look at the world absent spin, you can't help but come to the same conclusions he does.

He's the candidate of the well-informed patriot. He's the candidate of the smart economist. He's the candidate of the disillusioned former major party apparatchik. He's the candidate of the honest American who recognizes that the media is no longer honest and no longer serves the people.

If that makes some sheep like the writer of this piece nervous or whatever? Who gives a crap?

Like the GOP has ANY chance whatsoever of picking a winner in 2008?

Maybe you're the idiot who ought to get serious.

Do you wet your Depends as you type that whining lickspittle propaganda? REAL Americans care enough about Truth and Justice as to see an end to a war that should never have been fought, that has killed close to a million innocent people, and has maimed countless more.

What has the war in Iraq done for America? How has this Nation benefitted from it?

Nobody is advocating that we allow Al-Qaeda to "dictate" US policy. US policy should be based upon what is right for the American People, NOT for what is right for those that run the military industrial complex and profit from war.

Al-Qaeda wouldn't even BE in Iraq if we didn't cause half the population there to rise up against our occupation of that country. If anything, people such as YOU aid and abet Al-Qaeda by helping it find new recruits.

No, but I think Ron Paul supporters wet their Depends by insisting we better do what Osama bin Laden tells us to do.

Bin Ladin is a CIA asset. Always has been.

You have been psy-opsed by professionals. One day (maybe) you will break out of the mind-cage they've fashioned for you, stop living in fear of (false-flagged) phantoms and regain some semblance of a sound mind. Until then, you will be well represented by Twitchy McStrangelove.
