This English teacher has phrased it the best I've seen yet Tomatoes and Cheap Labor CHEAP TOMATOES? This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent From a California school teacher - - - "As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of: I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels. Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools. Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) (They are also probably being paid through welfare to have children out of wedlock, so this is simply a carry-over of the principles of the welfare state that is nearly 60 years old. What does this mean? That this type of activity was planned for by agents within the United States government.) I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial.. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" (whores) and throwing things that the teachers were in tears. Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs. Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes. We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return? There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way. It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "politically correctness" that we don't have the will to do anything about it. Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements? Now, as I have said before, and will repeat endlessly, I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION! Blaming those who come up from Mèxico to take advantage of what YOUR GOVERNMENT makes available makes no sense. Is what is going on correct? Hey! IT MUST BE CAUSE IT'S THE LAW! And the other part of this that is notable is that trying to stop it at the border is non-sense. Can not be done, and anyone who tells you that it can is simply diverting your attention from the real problems; "It was only after World War II that immigration law was drastically changed...In one of the first pieces of evidence of its political coming of age, the Jewish community had a leadership role in effecting those changes." (Earl Raab, Jewish Bulletin, July 23, 1993, p. 17) The other point that you should be aware of is that these kind of programs, offering free this and free that, will ALWAYS draw the worst-of-the-worst. As, I am sure, it was intended to do.

No one blames the illegal, we blame a govt that takes the word of Mexican drug dealers over their own Border Patrol agents. A 3rd one is going to prison. The schools mentioned were once poor neighborhoods of American citizens. Most of the programs and money designed to help American citizens is going to illegals. That's wrong in so many ways. They take the low-income American's job and the most of the govt programs. Then the Mexican gangs started shooting homeless American citizens in L.A., turf wars. MS-13 is a very violent gang, as are all Latino gangs. Their numbers are growing.

I have already covered this elsewhere, robin, but I will go ahead and do a post on the subject. There are Asian gangs that down with the Surenos, some affiliated with Bloods and Crips and several independent entities such as the Chinese Wah Chings, Philipino, Cambodian and Vietnamese gangs/ Something you should note, robin, gangs are not about race, as their are blacks in the Hispanic gangs, and Hispanics in the bloods and cripes. It is about, to them, respect. The largest single Hispanic gang in terms of turf size and membership would be one of 18th Street's main rivals, the Florencia 13 gang that has a turf that stretches from Western Ave (west) to Compton Ave (east). What is that all about? Respect, and control of territory. And, Robin, it is home grown. It did not come from Mèxico.

You're talking to the wrong person about this. My mother's family has been in California, specifically Los Angeles, since 1883. My father's family in Oregon since 1851 and then in SoCal around 1918. I know what has happened to my state, especially Los Angeles. My maternal grandmother taught special education in San Pedro to minorities back in the 1920s, '30s and '40s. She had a very high IQ and a very large vocabulary. She also had infinite patience and managed to turn students who were destined to be institutionalized for the rest of their lives into independent functioning citizens. More recently my 2nd eldest son taught at a school my mother and her siblings once attended. The L.A. SWAT team was called out while he was there. Every week a student was killed to or from school. Once a group of 2 dozen gang members walked into his math class and beat up a student. There was nothing he could do (they took his cell phone). He was so upset he could barely talk about it. The Los Angeles newspapers are full of stories of how the Latino gangs are pushing out Black American CITIZENS. Same for prisons, there are more Latinos now, so they rule the prisons. Yes, there are Asian gangs too. I've posted about them here before. Asian immigrants are extremely adapt at getting SSI and other govt $$ for supposed disabilities. They also like to start businesses and then burn them down for the insurance $$. It's very well documented corruption and fraud. Government giveaways tend to result in corruption from the ground up. Remember the well-heeled White middle-class women who were caught stealing from HUD? It's endemic in the system. The system needs changing. The border is a sieve, making life for people who live near the border a nightmare. The states are allowed little control over the situation. Unfortunately, the borders are a problem of the Feds. Lower wages, lower standard of living, higher traffic, higher housing costs, higher taxes, fewer jobs, inadequate medical care, more prisons, more police. That's the result.

Of course, robin; it is all about territory. In other words, money. And yes, there are more Latinos now, as planned for, by the US government. As to are there more Latino gangs than black gangs, how would you know? Do you make it a habit to go down into the black ghettos? No? Well, where do the Latinos live? Oh, right, close to where they use to/still do work; near the farming/fruit growing communities and near to constuction..... which puts them into direct contact with the whites, unlike the blacks who have been shut into their own ghettos. The problem is gangs, robin, and the border is not going to change. You are being prepared for race warfare, brought to you by the government. Why do you think that the CIA has been arming the gangs in the inner cities? Hey, they will make good shock troops.... and, you are likely to find that the Latino gangs may be the only thing between you and the CIA armed inner-city gangs when push comes to shove. And, robin, this is NOT an approval rant for the Latino gangs. I have stated elsewhere that the only solution to the gang problem is to arrest them, try them, and if found guilty of belonging to one of the proscribed gangs (not hard since they are required to brand themselves with the colors and names of the gang), excucute them the same day. Why? Because they are members for life. They can not leave the gang. Ever. And, they consider themselves to be dead men walking anyway.

Sure it can. Three fifty cal. machineguns mounted on three APCs could cut illegal immigration in half in thirty days. That takes a will to do it, however, which we lack.

Ummmm, ya think? I suspect that they have more than that currently in use in Iraq, WITH THE WILL TO USE THEM, and, ummmm, does not seem to be helping much.... And as I remember, did not the Russians use machine guns, mines and armed guards keeping people IN and behind a fence? Which, by the way, is much easier to do? And do not recall that it was real successful either. But hey, what do I know?

Different sort of motivators. To the folks in Iraq, we're the trespassers who need to be expelled. Along our southern border most of the illegal crossers know damn well they're trespassing, and the prospect of being shot would stop the vast majority of them. Are there some who would take the risk anyway? Sure, but it would cut down on most of them.

Point taken. But you were right in the first place about the will lacking. After all, pretty hard to drag America down to Mèxico so the two can be joined together without a flood coming in. We can be pretty sure that it is immpossible to pull Mèxico up to the level of America, so, the only other solution is to drag America down. That means an open border, and that ain't going to change unless people face what is really going on and deal with it.

We could if we wanted to. Think of the money we've wasted in the Iraqcle. It would hardly take that much to peacefully xform Mexico into a place equivalent to, say, West Virginia. But again, the will is lacking.

I beg to differ. Immigration could be cut almost 100% in a week after the first few groups to attempt an illegal crossing were mowed down with claymores and machine guns. Self-destructive Americans [must've gotten that trait from the Jews] however, do not have the stomach to defend themselves. Word of corpses travels fast./
Law Enforcement Against Prohibition A couple years ago the Border Patrol in Riverside and San Bernardino counties rounded up a few hundred illegals. For 2 weeks, the traffic was lighter, ENTIRE CLASSROOMS WERE EMPTY, etc. Teachers complained. Then Asa Hutchison ordered the Border Patrol to let them go "We didn't mean it" he said.

I repeat my original contention; ain`t possible to solve the problem at the border; the PROBLEM must be solved AT THE SOURCE, and the source of the problem ain`t in Mèxico.

Yes it is. Every Presidente of Mexico has advocated illegal immigration to the U.S., and then been an advocate for the Mexican citizens living in the U.S. illegally.

The last 6 presidents of Mèxico (that is 36 years) have been hand picked by the bankers in New York, and the vote counting machines to secure their election were sold, and financed, to Mèxico by those same bankers. Told ya this before.
