There really is no other entity other than the United States which is capable of fulfilling Babylon of Revelation 17 and 18, particularly 18. For some time, a man was telling me that he suspected that it had to be the US. But I was unwilling to accept his reasons. My being convinced that the United States will fulfill the role of Babylon came in a split second during a conversation with this man. I was reading the passages under discussion over the phone with him and read over the words, "afar off." AFAR OFF -- the merchants are standing AFAR OFF -- this means that Babylon CANNOT be a world system but an isolated geographic region. It is a character, not an all encompassing situation or world government situation. I then sent him a copy of William Greider's, One World Ready or Not and suggested he read the chapter "Buyer of Last Resort." The United States is THE SOLE consuming power that powers the global economy, without which the failed economies of post-WWII nation states would collapse. This is due to "free trade," which has not allowed other countries or economic zones to develop independently. Rather, they are dependent on the United States as what William Greider calls it, the "Buyer of Last Resort," in his One World Ready or Not. An examination of Charles Walters' Unforgiven ...the American Economic System SOLD for Debt and War... quickly reveals that current system was built, policy by policy, to create the predicament that America now finds itself in, albeit through folly. Neither Greider nor Walters indicate that the current situation is sustainable for more than several decades or so. The current economic system is without American precedent and is wholly illegitmate, but it is and perhaps will be all the more embraced and developed. As this illegitimate system is embraced and developed as legitimate, its followers must adhere to delusions -- delusions necessary for believing that the current system is appropriate, and that this appropriateness creates the context and foundation for even more misguided world economic development. Those who are being subverted by the system become willing and enthusiastic participants. People accept the problem. Study of the similarities between Babylon and the United States reveals much, but before one can impute the characteristics of prophetic Babylon (OT and Revelation) to the US, one must be able to nail it down on one count. The "afar off" as it pertains to the economic character of prophetic Babylon is conclusive. It eliminates all other contenders. Once one understands that the economic situation is hardly reversible, even desired and promoted by those still in power, and that the powers arrayed against this situation are without real power, plan, or effective organization, he must conclude that the US is and will remain the ONLY entity capable of individually sustaining world trade. To change the current situation would take herculean world cooperation, unprecedented in the history of greedy man. Because of my background in the trade issue, I was always aware of this role that the US plays in today's global economy. The "afar off" made me instantly suspect beyond all resonable doubt that the United States must be considered as beginning to fulfil the role of prophetic Babylon. It must be considered so by anyone who is fulfilling his Christian duty to watch for signs of prophetic fulfillment, a task that certain Christians during the end of the age must accept if they are to prove acceptable to Christ at his soon return. Then it makes sense that Babylon corrupts the world with her maddening adulteries. That is EXACTLY what the United States does now as a matter of doctrine. Those in power initiate "free market reforms" in a country, first as a matter of doctrine, but second to introduce the vice that immediately follows as a means of subverting the status quo, opening the door for governmental reforms which are more friendly to the West. The formula is that western vice equals western friends. The United States is completing this transgression in spades. All over the United States it is "NAKED NAKED NAKED -- PORN PORN PORN -- SEX TOYS" and on it goes with all of the filth that is gathering steam daily on television. Iraq has now been liberated to porn, viagra, and red-light districts, along with everything on television -- and they are not even finished being liberated yet. This is what the messiahs of the New World Order promote as the economic policy that produces freedom. All of the characteristics of prophetic Babylon are now the characteristics that must apply in the case of the US in our seeing prophecy unfold. But what that means is frightening -- the literal desolation of Babylon during the time of wrath. But perhaps most important, Isaiah 14, which prophecies against the king of Babylon as the man who is damned with Satan with worms underneath and worms on top -- the Anti-Christ. Need I remind you that the specific use of "Babylon" in Revelation necessarily imputes the characteristics of Old Testament Babylon to Revelation's Babylon. They can only be considered one and the same, but also as being like the first Babylon. I have already sensed that the river in the United States is drying, so to speak -- that the elegant homes of the Founding Fathers are fast becoming relics of a lost republic, though their remembrance not yet so far away as the Constitution. I then ponder the Scripture according to our dillema. Certainly one could dwell on the "Come out of her..." of Revelation, but the prophecies of the Old Testament clearly show us what this means and where this comes from. The Bible is doing no less than telling the children of the Lord to run for their lives! "Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity...." (Jeremiah 51:6a) Of course, this passage regards Babylon. The Old Testament makes it clear. This is not ambiguous. Get out. Whichever point one wants to take on first, all is nevertheless there and cannot be ignored. All my life I have heard people tell me that the imagery of the end of the age will become more clear to us as the time approaches, but the Bible says (in Daniel) that the wise shall understand, but NONE of the wicked shall understand. Those who are WISE are those who take the time to search out the Bible. The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. When the Bible talks about wisdom, it is talking about what God has told us in his HOLY WORD. Those who are distracted by this life to the extent that they refuse to search the Scriptures -- they are wrong and are NOT AMONG THE WISE. The root sin is that they have another love above God and what He has to say to them -- His revealed truth. Those who WILLINGLY EGLECT AND IGNORE HIS TRUTH ARE NOT WISE AND ARE WICKED AND WILL NOT UNDERSTAND. The wise shall understand, but none of the wicked shall understand. I always stood for the founding principles of this country, princples which are diametrically opposed to the wicked principles used to overthrow the originals and produce the apocalyptic situation now before us. I defy those who have inherrited the splendor of the United States only to abandon her true greatness, reliance on God, thus assigning her to a role as damnable as Babylon's, wantonly provoking the wrath of God, all in the name of patriotism and greatness. Previously, I had always felt that I would not understand much prophecy and that I would not lead people to believe things about prophecy that made them act differently than they otherwise would. But what propelled me into studying prophecy in the first place was my mistrust in the leadership of the church. Not long after I started reading the Bible on the subject, I realized that something had gone terribly wrong. The church had come to totally ignore what the Bible clearly teaches about the return of Christ and the Tribulation which preceeds it. It was also obvious that the human face of the church, on a near universal level, had compromised fundamental virtue, particularly when it could do so for political power. I believe that we are in the period of falling away, but that all of the human face of Christianity must utterly fall away, so that no church head of any church allows for even the deity of Christ and the necessity of his blood for our atonement. The church is there more than most people think, and it is easy to see a Catholic schism develop into full-blown rejection of teachings so fundamental as the divinity of Christ. And though some protestant anti-Catholicism prevents some otherwise learned individuals to see it clearly, the Catholic church is standing by its fundamental doctrines while condemning "soulless" American life as well as holding at bay the forces which look to overthrow ancient doctrines that delegitimize their immorality. Nevertheless, we are far along -- perhaps at the door in a manner of years. In churches today, there is hostility to anything that faithfully challenges members' materialistic complacency. The church is not interested in searching the Scripture to see if it is so. There is no excitement in the fact that Christ really is returning. Success in today's American church is whether or not you have a job, a house, and a wife. No John the Baptists allowed! If John the Baptist walked into one of today's churches with the whole truth and able to reveal mysteries, the American church would despise his words and not even hear him in the first place. Better to have a well-dressed Pharisee to deliver the message from a book or a pulpit. Then they would listen. Women who defy their families and disrepect their parents are allowed to sing in the choir, all with the blessing of the "pastor," who no doubt thinks he is being forgiving and accepting. We are in a time when those who truly strive for virtue will meet resistance in the church. The church will hate them and cast them out, and it continues in that direction inexorably. There may be real Christians in these churches, but at best they will be spewed out of the God's mouth, and I am not eager to join them to learn from first-hand experience exactly all that being spewed out entails. It is time for a call to rethink and replan church government and to construct our actions around a buildingless church -- a church that is busy with building spiritual knowledge and character in lieu of just building... and building... and adding on. It is this way in which we must train Christians to function as a church, for when and before Antichrist is revealed, the human face of the church will be turned against us, the foretold apostacy complete and those who will serve God be sealed and holpen with little help. Someone will less likely be sealed in an apostate church. We KNOW from the Bible that there will be a falling away -- AND we can see it happening now. It is no longer a matter of when this falling away will occur. It is now a matter that we are wincing and of exactly when we will hear the flat and ominous THUD! -- the "thud" that signals the church's league with the Antichrist. Every ideology in the world right now, to include heretical Pre-Tribulationism, deceives its adherrents into believing that they are moving toward a better end -- a final victory. But Christians know better. We know that Satan comes first. He comes at the midst of the seven, when the Anti-christ commits the abomination -- the moment of official revelation of the Antichrist as Antichrist. Satan is thrown down as a result of losing a war in heaven, and the restrainer, Michael "stands down," so that he is out of the way. Where the saints who are alive on earth shall be concerned, Satan indwells the Anti-Chist for 1260 days against the them and continues in like manner into destruction during God's wrath. Those who have thought that they were achieving some sort of earthly final victory will either support Antichrist or be utterly caught in Satan's snare. There are some things that indicate that there is sufficient time for labor. First, the temple has not had its cornerstone laid, although the temple plans are nearly complete to the point that all that remains will be to build it, and that will happen quickly once it is started. Next, there are nation's markets that have not yet been "reformed," therefore corrupted in sin -- countries such as North Korea and Iran, the hard nuts to crack, but also India, where a theater featuring a lesbian film was stoned by angry Hindus. After that, there is the church outside of the apostate church that has to be so developed to preach the truth and the gospel with such terrestrial omnipresence as to utterly ignite the raw, satanic, last-days hatred of this cankered world against them, so as to have them be killed to the joy of the entire world. Fine with me. The only person whom I have to please is Christ. He who has fear is not made perfect in love. "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." (I John 4:15-18) Perfect love is loving God, which is loving the truth. If you love something else, then you will have fear. If you love God, you will have courage, and tribulation will seem more a trifle. Tribulation is always endurable. The thing that hinders most people in studying prophecy is not that they are incapable of understanding prophecy. What hinders them is that they are afraid if they look too far, then they will have to face the loss of something they value more than God's truth. They are not made perfect in love, so the Scripture is not revealed to them. Again, it is not that Scripture is over there head. It is that they fear what God, out of His love for his children, wants to tell them. Do they not remember that God is love? Why then would they fear His Word? They fear God's Word because in their hearts they are holding onto something else. To me, tribulation is like basic training. Before I went to basic training, I wondered what it would be like and whether I could pass the test. Sure, some of the things we did were difficult. But they were all doable, and almost all of us passed. Then riding out on the bus we all looked back and saw others doing the same things that we had done early on and we laughed. We were not laughing at the other soldiers. We were laughing because looking back it looked so much easier. But we would never have known that if we had not gone through our training in the first place. And that is what tribulation is like. And if God dwells in you, and you in God, then when you go through tribulation God will be there with you. If you are crying, God is crying too. And soon, during what I like to think of as our retirement, we will not have to cry anymore. If you put your emphasis on loving God above all things, fear will at worst be a temptation, but it will not be a problem that will overcome you. Fear will be cast out! I once had a woman tell me that she wanted to teach people about what is going on by scaring them. That is not what God would have us to do. He wants us to teach and encourage eachother to love God so that we will be made perfect in love that casteth out fear. And you also have faith and hope. Love is the greatest and faith will give you the "gas" to work according to your belief that comes from faith. And we need hope so that we do not give up. If you believe something but you let hope for it die, you will stop. We have real hope that Christ will return. You can count on it. That is our hope. If we have to complete the last task for the church in this age, remember that other Christians for centuries have wondered who we would be, what we would do, and what it would be like. I am sure some Christians wondered what you would be like. Regardless of how much time is left, and I think it is not much, it is time to step up to the plate and take our turn to live for God. The other Christians are waiting for us on the other side, and it will not be long. All works quickly it God's own time. It is time to consider the wise virgins who went out early to get their oil and were ready when the bridegroom came, so that we do not chance suffering the fate of those foolish virgins. It is also wise to consider, with the situation before us, that our lack of dilligence today likely means that someone may not affected in the way the Lord would have them so affected. Hey, it's an interesting concept, and pretty well matches what I see. Do I have some difficulties with it? Yes, but I think that the overall message is pretty clear, to anyone with an eye to see and an ear to hear.

Or, as you would say, wetbacks! interesting - I keep seeing wet floor cones in restrooms that say "piso mojado". I assumed piso meant wet and mojado meant floor. but it must be the other way around.
You got it; piso is floor. Remember, because of the definition of virtually everything in Spanish as either male or female, MOST verbs FOLLOW the main subject of the sentance. And that is why piso ends in an o, which defines piso as masculine, and why mojado, in this instance, also ends in o because it is defining a masculine word. So you know, if you see it, mojada also means wet, just used in a different context.
