"I demanded to speak to a TSA [Transportation Security Administration] supervisor who asked me if the water in the sippy cup was 'nursery water or other bottled water.' I explained that the sippy cup water was filtered tap water. The sippy cup was seized as my son was pointing and crying for his cup. I asked if I could drink the water to get the cup back, and was advised that I would have to leave security and come back through with an empty cup in order to retain the cup. As I was escorted out of security by TSA and a police officer, I unscrewed the cup to drink the water, which accidentally spilled because I was so upset with the situation. "At this point, I was detained against my will by the police officer and threatened to be arrested for endangering other passengers with the spilled 3 to 4 ounces of water. I was ordered to clean the water, so I got on my hands and knees while my son sat in his stroller with no shoes on since they were also screened and I had no time to put them back on his feet. "I was ordered to apologize for the spilled water, and again threatened arrest. I was threatened several times with arrest while detained, and while three other police officers were called to the scene of the mother with the 19 month old. A total of four police officers and three TSA officers reported to the scene where I was being held against my will. I was also told that I should not disrespect the officer and could be arrested for this too. I apologized to the officer and she continued to detain me despite me telling her that I would miss my flight. Amen. I'd like to take a trip east to visit an Aunt of mine, but I will not put myself to the indignity of dealing with the submoron goons at the airport. So, it's either drive, or Greyhound. It's a nice Bus Ride through the Rockies but those seats are a mite uncomfortable after about 12 or 14 hours. As well who knows if they've been put on the "harass list" for being outspoken in the first place? I have not flown since before 911 and post 911 it is more hassle than it is worth. Doubly so since I firmly believe a lot of it totally unnecessary.
Liberals want the government to be your Mommy. is a amtrak available? i had a friend who recently took a trip on the train and really enjoyed it. good food and most of the travelling is overnight and you can get a sleep cabin.

I'd have to transfer to Bus at some point anyway so I might as well bus it all the way. A sleeper would be nice though. I used to ride the train a lot when I was in the service. As a lowly E-4 I got drunk with the C.O. of the Enterprise enroute to San Diego (he was a Gin and Tonic man - make mine Whiskey - tis the only fitting drink for a Mon.). I miss the old Club Cars. The new trains, while the seats are more comfortable, do not have the character of the old ones - or the intimacy.

I have had it out in a yelling match with TSA once and Border Patrol once...won both times ! Punks and hoodlums !
Problem with Amtrak is it is as expensive or more expensive that a flight... you travel through the wonderful world of herbicide -sprayed rail right of ways... and all your time is spent on the train...hours hours , days, ....ugh I hate sitting anyway! all your time is spent travelling rather in arriving at the destination and doing what you set out to do.... if I want to wander and explore, I will take my car or hike .
During one of my pre 9/11 flights out of Reagan the ticket agent asked me routinely if my bags had ever been out of my control. I said no if you didn't count the escalator. Probably couldn't get away with that today.
I worked concert security (crowd control specialist) for 11 years in Chicago. During all that time we we always outnumbered for any show we worked. Yeah, we used intimidation tactics at times and even fear in the proper perspective. It helped to be just plain crazy, too. Let's face it, I was a bouncer. I would never have tolerated this sort of crap from anyone on my crew. I'm sure we nailed a few people who may not have deserved it, but sometimes things get to the point where you have to show no mercy to keep everything from blowing up and losing the crowd and the venue. This incident in the airport was nothing of the sort. These idiots are rank amateurs. This sort of thing in the airport don't even cut it as a tense situation. Those jerks needed a good upbraiding at a minimum. To threaten this woman with arrest is the same as threatening to shoot her from where I see it. If you pull it, you better use it. I would never threaten anyone (unless they were on the way out), but fair warnings were game many times and repeat dick heads got muscled. Most never got a second chance to be an asshole, they were outa there. These goons would never last five minutes under the conditions I had to work some of those shows. They would be dead meat. And I'll tell you straight out, I would not want any of them watching my back either.

I hope this left handed fat ass female cop got off on her power trip. I have no problem or disagreement with a single point that you brought up. My deadlines are self-imposed. I like smiling happy trips. I am a seasoned traveller with a thousand flights all over the world. I take no shit from TSA or stewardesses or customs. Detain me. But it had better be for cause.

How do "they" test the integrity of rail ridges on heavily traveled commercial waterways? Why, they use fully loaded AMTRAK and freight trains, of course.
