Christine Romans reports on a video that appeared on YouTube of an immigration seminar. Topics included a tutorial for employers who want to import foreign workers by using H-1B, H-2B, and green cards. The video clips were put on youtube by a law firm called Cohen & Grigsby who held an immigration seminar on May 15, 2007 in Pittsburgh. Some of the subjects covered included instructions to employers how to avoid hiring qualified and interested American workers. Dobbs got it right when he said that this is a blatant attempt to screw American workers.

...unabated

There was a bloodbath of layoffs where I work, none of the H1 visa workers were affected. All those let go were American born (as in many generations); the one exception was a Filipino. Some had worked here for over 10 years. The company had its first good year in many, bonuses were paid. No real reason was given, just a "re-org".

I already mentioned once that there was some sort of official foreign visa posting in the kitchen at work, the salary listed is more than I am paid, and I have 19 years of professional software engineering experience. None of the visa or offshore workers are over 30 years of age.

So much for "loyalty."

Is there anything that congress hasn't screwed up?

Generations of Americans built a free nation with a healthy environment for innovation and companies to flourish.

It was built with the sacrifice, blood and sweat of Americans. It's all being given away to people who neither earned the right to these fruits nor fully appreciate what's required to keep a free nation.

Just so a handful of treasonous Americans can have golden parachutes as they exit.

But none of this would have been possible without the corrupt, complicit, enabling congress (who have insured their own retirement packages.)

Absolutely. The conservative Phyllis Schlafly calls it a "racket".

It's called the H-1B racket, and it's very profitable for the big corporations. This system is not the free market; it's politicians and corporations conniving to do an end run around our immigration laws in order to keep wages artificially low. This is not the free market; Congress is pleasing its corporate contributors while selling out American workers.

the U.S. can and should do something about (d), the huge tax-rebate racket that lures U.S. companies to lay off American workers and set up shop in foreign countries.

Excellent link - thank you.

Corporations located in the United States pay big U.S. corporate income and property taxes. It does a lot for their bottom line when they move to a foreign tax-free utopia.

Foreign governments do tax corporations, but if the company exports its products to the U.S. (or other countries), the foreign government rebates (forgives) the tax. That creates an irresistible magnet to attract U.S. companies to transfer their plants to a land where they can avoid most of both countries' taxes.
