Ron Paul Revolution: Wunder oder Traum? Im Internet formiert sich eine Gegenmacht zu den etablierten Medien von Robert Grözinger Letzte Woche hat Fabio Bossi in diesem Blog beschrieben, welche massiven Schwierigkeiten die deutschen Medien bei der Einordnung des US-Kongressabgeordneten Ron Paul, Mitglied der Republikaner und Präsidentschaftskandidat, Libertärer und Konservativer, Kriegs- und Abtreibungsgegner, haben. Aber nicht nur sie, auch die Mainstream-Medien in den USA selbst haben diese Probleme. Dieses Verhalten hat mit der Tatsache zu tun, dass sämtliche dieser Medien den Irak-Krieg hundertprozentig unterstützt haben und nun wissen, dass sie hundertprozentig getäuscht wurden, dies aber aus Gesichtswahrungs- und anderen Gründen nicht zugeben. Die Stimmung im amerikanischen Volk ist jedoch längst deutlich gegen den Krieg eingestellt, und diese Einstellung wird die Wahl massiv beeinflussen. So weit wie möglich versuchen diese Medien deshalb, Paul zu ignorieren. Reuters zum Beispiel titelte nach der ersten Debatte aller republikanischen Kandidaten im Fernsehen: „Die Präsidentschaftskandidaten von 2008 unterstützen den Krieg“ – kein Wort davon, auch nicht im Haupttext, dass Ron Paul als einziger Kandidat den Irak-Krieg ablehnte, dies schon vor dem Krieg tat, und dies auch in der Debatte erwähnte. In CNN ließ sich Arianna Huffington, eine bekannte Kolumnistin, kurz nach der Debatte zu der Falschaussage hinreißen, daß alle 10 Kandidaten den Krieg unterstützten, ohne in der Talkrunde Widerspruch zu ernten. Wenn die Medien Paul erwähnen, dann nur en passant oder in herablassender Manier. Oder sie bezweifeln, wie der Sender ABC, die Echtheit der Unterstützung Pauls im Internet. Erst hatte dieser Sender ihn gar nicht auf seiner Online-Umfrageliste. Doch dann gab es eine „Eruption im Netz“, und er wurde gelistet – und gewann die Umfrage nach der Fernsehdebatte locker – ebenso wie bei MSNBC, wo dann aber rätselhafterweise verkündet wurde, ein anderer Kandidat (Mitt Romney) habe die Debatte gewonnen. Einige Tage später hatten dort 11.000 für Paul gestimmt, der nächstbeste, Rudy Giuliani (den Lew Rockwell in seinem Blog gelegentlich auch „Benito Giuliani“ nennt) kam bis dahin nur auf 150 Stimmen. Nachdem aufgrund der einseitigen, gegen Paul gerichteten Berichterstattung eine Diskussion auf der ABC-Website entbrannte, wurden die diesbezüglichen Kommentare – mehrere hundert – kurzerhand komplett gelöscht. Doch die Unterstützung der Netzgemeinde für Paul ist echt – das wundert auch nicht, ist er einer der wenigen US-Politiker, die gegen staatliche Schnüffelei im Internet und kompromisslos für die freie Rede eintreten – also für Dinge, die Internetnutzer bewegt. Und deshalb auch ein offenes Ohr für seine anderen ur-libertären Positionen haben. Dass er sich damit auch gefährliche Feinde macht, ist sicher. Denn Paul ist nicht nur erklärter Gegner des Krieges und des Wohlfahrtsstaats, sondern auch der Bundes-Einkommenssteuer und der Zentralbank (er will eine Rückkehr zum Goldstandard). So bekommt er aus dem Establishment natürlich kein Geld, sein Wahlkampfbudget beträgt derzeit einige Hunderttausend Dollar; andere Kandidaten führen mit solchen Beträgen vielleicht die Portokasse. Eine Gruppe von Menschen in Arizona hat sich daher entschlossen, diesen Mangel an finanzieller Unterstützung durch Arbeitskraft, Einfallsreichtum und (wiederum) Internet-Präsenz auszugleichen. Ergebnis ist die „Ron Paul Revolution“. Das Logo dieser Bewegung, die nicht dem offiziellen Wahlkampf-Team Pauls angehört, ist schlicht genial (siehe den Link unten). Laut ihrer Website taucht ihr Schild inzwischen „überall im Land auf“. Dennoch ist es derzeit sehr zweifelhaft, ob Paul das Ziel, offizieller Kandidat der Republikaner zu werden, erreicht. Obwohl er eine Online-Umfrage nach der anderen gewinnt, gehört er in den „echten“ Umfragen immer noch zur „ferner liefen“-Gruppe. Nach der erwähnten Fernseh-Debatte konnte er seine Zustimmungswerte zwar verdoppeln – jedoch lediglich von 1 auf 2 Prozent. Und selbst wenn er, wie durch ein Wunder, Kanditat oder gar Präsident würde, ist überhaupt nicht abzusehen, wie er den etatistischen Dschungel, der das politische Amerika inzwischen geworden ist, ernsthaft lichten kann. Entweder werden wir also Zeuge eines Wunders, das das deutsche Wirtschaftswunder um ein Vielfaches übertrifft, oder wir nehmen den letzten Seufzer des amerikanischen Traums wahr.

All I could decipher was the title, Miracle of Dream. I have studied 4 foreign languages and cannot use one of them where I will be living if Ron Paul does not win in 2008. Hahaha, reading the translation was fun. Always thought there was something weird about the way one of my German clients talked until I realized she was using German sentence structure. It hit me when she said the dog "was all the time barking". Her husband was one of my heroes, God rest his soul. He was one of the scientists we brought over after WWII. I would rather not say which country yet. I would love to go to Europe but that new EU constitution which is being adopted as a treaty to bypass voting really scares me. And Tony Blair as EU President? Sarkozy the Zionist President of the Israeli French Republic scares me enough to saty out of France even though French is one of my 4 foreign languages. Forget about England. They allow the Mossad and MI5 to blow up subways. I have a profession I can practice in Asia - (not teaching English)- so I will not worry about the collapse of the dollar. I would strongly suggest that no one consider living in a country that does not have food security after the dollar collapses. If 20 to 30% of the population has no food, you will not be safe. I stand by my original calculation that the dollar will be toast by 12-31- 2009 - sooner if President Stupid attacks Iran.
