Res 333 by Mosquito Pilot [Subscribe] UPDATE: Her scheduler says she'll be in Houston this weekend, but he doesn't have a commitment to meet. Maybe a few more calls... the number is (202) 225-3816. Matthew is the scheduler. Ask for her to meet and discuss impeachment with me this weekend--refer to this diary and/or my daughter meeting her at the airport anniversary--they'll know who you mean. Thanks for all of your support. UPDATE 2: Staffers are reporting (3:53pm central) that H Res 333 will be brought to a vote. No timeline was given for the vote. Now is the time to call all Judiciary Committee members. That's what Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (SJL) told me on Saturday--or was she just blowing me off again? Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee is in one of the safest Democratic seats in the US Congress. The seat was previously held by Barbara Jordan, who played a key role in the Nixon impeachment, and by Craig Washington, a good progressive who was forced out of office by Enron (Enron chose SJL as his replacement but that's another story). My daughter and I were at the 25th Anniversay of the Houston Intercontinental Airport last Saturday where SJL addressed the crowd. As she concluded her remarks I told my 4 yr. old daughter, "c'mon, we're gonna go talk to that woman". So, as we walk up, the Congresswoman bends down to my daughter, hand extended and says "Well hello, what's your name?" My girl does not take her hand to shake. She leaves the Congresswoman with her hand extended, looks her straight in the eye and says "My dad wants to talk to you". "I will sweetie, will you shake my hand?" My daughter looked up at me and I nodded assent. They shook hands and the Congresswoman turned to me and I said "you've got to take meaningful action to end this war, prevent the war in Iran and put an end to this disgraceful administration that's subverting American values. Please co-sponsor the Kucinich impeachment bill and get it on the committee agenda". "We're considering that bill this week", she said. I asked for some clarification on what that meant by "we're considering" and she said she had to go and suggested I call her office during the week. I have. I've got nothing to show for my actions. So Kossacks, here's your action item. Call Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, Judiciary Committee member and holder of one of the safest Democratic seats in the US Congress, and ask her if the impeachment bill will be considered this week and if she will co-sponsor it and get it on the Judiciary Committee agenda. Tell her the cute blond girl and her dad sent you. Here's her DC # (202) 225-3816 and her Houston # (713) 655-0050 Background: I've been working with her office for months trying to get an answer to the question "will you co-sponsor impeachment legislation?". On Cinco de Mayo I saw her at a parade and said "you've gotta co-sponsor the Kucinich bill and put it on the committee agenda". Her reply was "I think I've already done that". "No ma'am, you haven't" was my response. Since then I've mailed a formal request for a meeting as asked by her scheduler. I've followed up innumerable times. I spoke with her briefly on Memorial day and she assigned an aide to work with me. She agrees to discuss the topic when we're face to face and to take action in committee, but it hasn't happened yet. Please call her office. We all deserve an answer. No politician should be allowed to fence sit the most important issue of our time. As Nietzsche said "Formula for happiness--a yes, a no, a straight line, a goal".

Congress has no guts. One of these congress guys stood right in congress and let cheney tell him to get fucked. What would you or I do if someone said that to us? They got no guts.
Her reply was "I think I've already done that". "No ma'am, you haven't" was my response. Thanks for what you're doing.
