Thanks for the info on this band which I'm not familiar with.

There is gold in them there hills, it's just hard to find out about. The last couple years I have happily come across Love and the 13th Floor Elevators.

I think that's the band with Roky Erikson (sp?)--another Syd Barrett- style "casualty."

I was trying to remember the story earlier but had too many other pressing matters to attend to. Roky didn't fry his brains, the government did. He was busted for marijuana and locked up in a psych ward because the system saw him as a threat. While he was locked up he was regularly subjected to large doses of any number of experimental drugs, and I think they did some electroshock as well. It's been years since I read about it, so please forgive me if I've mangled some of the details.
