But…but…but…that’s UNPOSSIBLE!

The news was grim. Nine firefighters were killed after fire collapsed the roof at the Sofa Super Store, a former Piggly Wiggly on a busy retail highway. The deaths are the worst loss of firefighters since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Hrm. Anybody see any Bush admin stooges lurking around with detonators tucked under their trenchcoats? Anyone?

Snark aside, my condolences to the families who lost loved ones in this tragic event, and to Charleston’s fire/rescue community.

A Piggly Wiggly building is so much like WTC7, I mean, the buildings are so similar. It's so obvious that if fire could collapse a Piggly Wiggly, why, it could collapse ANYTHING!

"can of corn" is a baseball euphemism for a pop fly that's easily catchable. If a hitter hits a "can of corn", he is nearly always put OUT!

Lame pop flies are a good metaphor for everything "can of corn" posts. His postings are lazy, easily caught and put out. They never advance the bases or score any points.

As such, "can of corn"'s name is most appropriate.
