Title: Workers (illegals protesting) Get Soaked by Pulte Homes!

this is the commentary on You Tube:

"The video shows Pulte representatives out of control—frustrated at workers demonstrating at construction sites within their developments. Pulte Homes then assaults them with high-pressure water from Pulte water trucks. As the housing market continues to sink in Florence and the rest of the metropolitan area, Pulte Homes dropped its good guy image when it came to the workers who build their homes.

Workers demanding justice from Pulte Homes' construction subcontractors were shocked when the well-know homebuilder began directing its water truck drivers to repeatedly douse workers with high-pressure water. Workers, with dripping clothes and soggy shoes, maintained their calm and continued their peaceful demonstration even as they counted up to 16 separate water assaults in one day. Israel Hernandez, a painter who worked on hundreds of Pulte/Del Webb homes in the Phoenix area, paused while wiping water from the video camera lens, remarking, "This wasn't what we meant when we ask for drinking water on the job site." (more) "

Get used to it. This is CORPORATIONS RULE law. Do not interfere with commerce, worker-bee.

Hmmm, let's see here...

People trespassing on private property refuse to leave. Property owner gets annoyed and ejects them.

Actually, that's how it should be - unless you think breaking and entering is a virtue.

Ummm. Interesting. Workers trespassing. How does that work? Curious, you know.

And if you note the man who said the words I quoted, he is stated to have worked on hundreds of homes, so I doubt that he is illegal. And if he is, there are existing laws about that, as I recall, which include fines, if applicable, and deportation PLUS, if they are enforced, fines for the company hiring him.

I also have a nephew (my wife's) working house construction in Arizona. Been there 10 years, married to a Latino from the states, completely legal and been that way for many years. So, this ain't all about illegals, thank you.

It seems to me that the issues go beyond what everyone here is stating, and, PROBABLY revolve around Pulte wanting to use more (cheaper) illegals now because of slumping home sales.

Of course, everyone probably better get used to THAT.

The workers are not the owners of the property. If they're launching a protest, the owner has the absolute right to tell them to get lost or restrict their access to the job site. The employer also has the right to issue worksite rules detailing what employees can and cannot do on the worksite.

Its pretty cut-and-dried.

You'll note I'm not even bothering to address the immigration status of the workers; this is simply a property rights issue coupled with the employer's authority to regulate the activities of the employees.

A protest on a construction site is easily deemed "unsafe" and 'protesting' employees may be ejected for simple safety concerns.

Alright. I'll buy that. I still like the quote though! I'm still laughing about it.

This wasn't what we meant when we ask for drinking water on the job site."

And I am thinking back to the post on 4um the other day where it was explained how a law firm had produced a video on how to hire green card workers, while refusing to hire Americans for the same work. Americans who they would have to pay more too.

And in what I am seeing, and after all of the adds I have seen down here about LOTTERY FOR 50,000 GREEN CARDS THIS MONTH!, I still think that what this is about is Pulte looking to cut costs by bringing in more illegal and/or green card workers at lower pay.

Just as the immigration action currently in the Senate is all about the same thing;

Oh I know all about that. Its just one of the cycles the US goes through.

It generally goes like this, historically:
Large Wave of Immigration -> Resentment + Economic downturn -> Restrictions -> Time Passes -> Open Borders again -> Wash, rinse, repeat.

We're at the "Resentment + Downturn" phase of it right now. This same thing was played out in the 1920s after the "Great Wave" - and before that, in the 1800s.

Today is no different. It will end up playing out the same way as it has in the past.
