Despite such obtuseness Lindzen fights on, defending the science at what is undoubtedly a very considerable personal cost. Those who toe the party line are publicly praised and have grants ladled out to them from a funding pot that overflows with US$1.7-billion per year in the U.S. alone. As Lindzen wrote earlier this year in The Wall Street Journal, "there is a more sinister side to this feeding frenzy. Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their grant funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves libeled as industry stooges, scientific hacks or worse. Consequently, lies about climate change gain credence even when they fly in the face of the science that supposedly is their basis."

Outstanding! Thank you. Some of these need to be posted separately they are so clear as to what is really going on.

Everything that I have read so far certainly supports exactly what I have been saying; if the media is behind it and is promoting it, it is a LIE!

Thanks again; I have never seen a better list of verifiable information.

First, global warming is real and accellerating. Second, the industrial and automotive revolutions just "happen" to coincide with this?

Your facts are wrong. Firstly, global warming is real, but it is not accelerating. Secondly, the Earth has been in warming trend for the past 4 centuries--well before manking began emitting non-trivial amounts of CO2.

Without even going into the lack of scientific credibilty of the political organization known as the IPCC, your quote from the IPCC says nothing to specifically authenticate your assertions that a) "global warming is...accellerating" and b) "the industrial and automotive revolutions just `happen` to coincide". I still say the "facts" you asserted are wrong.

Am I reading the bottom graph correctly that seems to indicate that the sun has something to do with the earth's temperature?

I also remember reading something that seemed to posit that the earth is somewhat self correcting for temperature changes. The premise was that increased temperature meant more clouds which reduced the amount of energy hitting the earth, cooling the planet a bit, and during cooling the reverse would be true. I'm not sure how accurate that idea was, given that more clouds also means that more heat cannot escape.

Thanks for the link. Interesting stuff. James Burke's show "Connections" had an episode that talked about how around 1000 years ago the climate got colder, and it caused a lot of changes in house and chimney construction that led to modern society. I also think it's kind of strange given that the earth has been both warmer and cooler in the past, that we're trying to keep the earth at the temperature it is right now. I think that for most life, a little warmer works a lot better than colder.
