Kelly Binning, 38, of Denison, faces a charge of second-degree sexual assault. He allegedly touched a young girl inappropriately in 2001 when the child was 7 years old.
Binning's wife runs a day care out of their home. When charges were filed, investigators encouraged parents in Denison with children at that day care to talk to their children about good touch and bad touch, and said they expected more victims to be identified. Binning's home
A man identified only as Bob said on Tuesday that he's worried about his grandchildren.
"It was just kind of a shock, but the biggest shock was knowing that the grandkids was there," Bob said.
Bob's grandchildren used to attend day care at the home on the outskirts of Denison.
"I suppose he's just as capable as anyone else," Bob said.
Bob doesn't know if his grandchildren are victims, but he said the 2- and 8-year-old were questioned by Social Services workers.
Binning is pastor at a church outside Arion, Iowa. Angelia Granzen has known the Binning family most of her life.
"Very shocking," Granzen said. "It's hard to believe, because he's been such a wonderful member of the community."
Granzen said her 12-year-old daughter is good friends with Binning's daughter. Granzen said she won't allow Binning near her children anymore.
Binning is out on bond with restrictions. He could not be found for comment.
