Teddy K is now talking about the 'undocumented' and their great usefulness.

He sounds calm, rested and 'reasonable' while urging for a 'yes'.

Sen. Specre says that if they vote for the Cloture, they would see lots of improvements in amendments passed before the final vote. He also says that it's going to be a hard vote. He says that no one has 'something better'.

They tabled yesterday's Webb's amendment to roll back the 'illegal entry date' for those that would become citizens to 4 years ago. I heard that Webb is pissed. He may vote 'nay' now.

Now Feinstein says that anyone who's against the bill must be either ignorant or stupid. This is 'loser' talk.

She says that without this bill passing the country will be invaded by masked, impossible to trace or to stop and violent illegals. It's as if the country does not have any immigration laws today.

She ends by begging the senators to vote 'yeah'.

Kyl says: vote for cloture and... 'trust us'. Some magic amendments that would address all problems can only be debated and voted on if... debate is limited by cloture.

DeMint says: the supporters don't listen to the American people.

Lindsay Graham says: it's impossible to guard the border unless the new bill is passed. He says that it's the Demos only who want to citizenize the illegals and the GOPs must pay the price so that the border is protected. If they vote 'nay', they will never have a bill this good. This is the very best of the best.

Durban says: even if you oppose the law don't end this debate - so opposing the limiting of debate is 'ending the debate' :))))))) I think the Senate and the government proceedings have become so absurd, serious thought and action should be dedicated to terminating this monster. Vitter says: don't take us for fools. Repeating the mistakes of 1986 won't solve the problem. Promising enforcement after 30 years of no enforcement should not fool us.

Unidentified senator opposed says: what part of 'no' don't we understand. The people of this country don't want this bill passed.

Martinez says: vote for this because it's going to cost almost nothing. It's gonna be real cheap.

Specter says: those who don't like the bill and say that they represent the American people do not represent the American people. Those who call their offices are always nay-sayers but the real people are silent. Oh, and we don't run the country by 'public opinion polls'. Specter found a quote from a Brit in 1774 that supports the current bill.

Specter is again insulting those who voted or would vote 'nay'. He says that he has the evidence that 23 senators changed their votes for nefarious reasons yesterday on some amendment yesterday.

Oh???? The majority leader says that 'immigration is a problem across America' (not a local one). I thought that immigration was a blessing, not a problem. But... LOL... he can't say ILLEGAL immigration. His own family has ben 'enriched' by immigration (his wife is Jewish).

Reed is still wearing a watch passed onto him by his daddy or dady in law (anyone who watched 'Pulp Fiction' would know why I started laughing when he mentioned that).

Reed's children are eligible for Israeli citizenship, says Reed. Nice! My heart is melting like a popsicle.

Oh, Reed's skin is white, says Reed. His skin is 'American skin' (made in China?). I thought that this bill was only for legalizing the illegal immigrants, not the consumption of illegal drugs.

Amendment-laden immigration bill in peril

WASHINGTON, June 28 (UPI) -- The fate of the fractious immigration reform bill in the U.S. Senate was shakier Thursday after the chamber voted down amendments and lost supporters.

The bill, which U.S. President George Bush is pushing to pass, has 26 amendments from Democrats seeking to soften some restrictions and Republicans wanting to stiffen them.

Each of the amendments has supporters, most of whom have said their overall votes will be tied to the amendments' passage, and Wednesday saw many fence-sitters fall away as their projects were voted down, The Washington Post reported.

One major amendment rejected was a Republican proposal to require adult illegal immigrants to return to their countries temporarily to qualify for a special new visa, the Post said.

Newcomer Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., told The New York Times the situation was perplexing.

"I feel like Goldilocks," McCaskill said. "It is either too hot or too cold. It is certainly not just right."

I think I am getting a big delay on the C-Span feed.

I got to 50 nays now. It would be so much fun to listen to the post-mortem speeches and to the inevitable Bush commentary about, maybe, the senators refusing to do the work that the American people wants them to do.
