Just heard the guy on CNN.

I think the Libby pardon is a most funny episode and it has its place in the process of total decomposition of the current American 'conservative' clique. It's absurd beyond extreme, coming from an a-hole president who used to joke about the death-row guys he refused to pardon while he was gov'nor.

I hope the Wilsons succeed in turning Scooter into OJ Mark 2, getting a multi-million judgment against him.

The funny thing is that Bush only commuted the sentence. Libby still has to pay the fine and behave for 2 years under probation (no hanky-panky with underage gerbils through 2009). So, Bush, the jury, Fitz, they all seem to agree that the guy is criminally guilty. Only Bush decided to keep him out of jail but Libby keeps his criminal record.

Without a pardon, Libby can't be forced to testify. He can still plead the Fifth. And the administration can refuse to comment on an ongoing case (Libby still gets to appeal the verdict -- all the appeals court decided today was whether he had to go to jail pronto.)

Plus, I bet Libby gets a juicy gig someplace, like at AEI.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

Scooter will just go bankrupt and refuse to pay. Bankruptcy reform was for poor people with credit card debt. The wealthy have lawyers who will make sure they never pay a dime.

It's funny that the Bush, the Cheney and the other false conversatives are oh-so-worried-and-concerned about Scotter's family and, of course CHILDREN. Their hearts are bleeding like leaky sewer pipes.

Can anyone do a Lexus(tm)-Nexus and see how often the conversatives hearts were bleeding for the other 1,000,000-plus US inmates who, in many cases, have 'families' and, sometimes, even parents, spouses or children?

I don't have Lexis-Nexus anymore, but that ain't searchable anyway. But this came up tonight. Smirk has hardly ever pardoned anyone, and has always said it would only be if there was new evidence or evidence of jury wrongdoing. He pardoned ONE death penalty case in Texas, and most people think about five innocent people were executed.

The money quote is an interview with Tucker Carlson, the night before Karla Faye Tucker was executed, after the Pope and Pat Robertson had begged for mercy. "Did you talk to her," Carlson, a real right-wing punk, asked. "What was she going to say, "Pweez don't kiw me?," Bush smirked.

Which is why he is called Smirk a lot. It says a lot about Tucker Carlson that he then went on to support Smirky for years and sneer at people who thought he was a thug-moron. Now he claims he opposed the war and never liked Bush. A small check of his writings proves he is, like most repukes, a stone greedy liar. MSNBC has to fire that piece of crap.

But at least he reported this FLAMING example of Smirk's "I am too much of a pussy to actually kill someone, but I have huge orgasms when someone kills for me." Now he gets huge numbers. I bet Laura gets sick of all that masturbation.

Nah, he'll get off better than that. He'll get the customary form of open political bribery...the book deal. Someone will ghost write his story for him (minus the bear-on-child in a cage action, like in the one he wrote himself) and copies will be bought by the pallet load by Haliburton and dumped into landfills.

The book will come MUCH later. Even wingnuts know he's a lying punk. But by then, no one will care, because hopefully, he will have sent his bosses to jail. Lying to Congress is a whole new charge.

Lying to Congress is a whole new charge.

He could go up there and rape the wife of every congressman on the committee and they wouldn't do anything but make noise. scooter will go before them and "not recall" anything just like gonzo did. They could de-fund that fucker's office but they won't. They wouldn't even cut off funding to cheney's office after he said he wasn't part of the executive branch or put limits on the war they were elected to end.

The sports analogy with politics doesn't work anymore. It's more like pro-wrestling now. Lots of growling and chest thumping but no one gets hurt for real.
